As Ode got older, I changed his diet accordingly. From the age of 3 or 4, I started switching his food from kibbles to raw food, cooked veg and some fruits. Supplements were added according to Vet's advice.
For nearly 16 years, this boy never needed any long term medications and also never needed any dental scaling.
No commercial treats were suitable as he would develop allergy to most of them. And so I dehydrated own treats.
For at least 12 years, my weekends were spent in the kitchen preparing his raw meat, cooked veg and dehydrated treats. Those were the days, everything we did is about him.
After he passed on, suddenly I didn't need to do anything anymore. Fridge and freezer became empty. Dehydrator, blender and containers became white elephants.
And 4 yrs have passed, Fridge and freezer still have lots of space.
My life? I resumed boarding dogs, primarily corgis, for the past 4 yrs, I am grateful for the loyalty of my clients, I love their dogs, they definitely helped in my grieving and healing journey.
I strongly believe, this is what Ode wanted me to do - Love other dogs.
