This is Tanker, a 6yo Lab who's a retired K9 sniffer dog and absolutely obsessed with his Kong!

This boy is a gentle giant and loves people. We're mainly working with his new adopters on his leash pulling, which is especially important given he's a massive 28kg. Tanker also tends to get anxious and bark when his owners leave the house, so we've given some tips to his owners to help him settle into his new home and routine.

Having a new baby can turn a dog’s world upside down.

Bahn Mi started barking and growling, especially when her new hooman sibling made sounds or when the nanny carried her out of her high chair.

As part of our behaviour modification programme, we looked at using enrichment to meet her needs and reduce frustration-related behaviours, while also setting up “success stations” and teaching Bahn Mi to settle behind barriers.

This allows us to create safe, controlled exposures to the baby, which are key to helping Bahn Mi build familiarity and bond with her new sibling over time. 🐶👶

Rumi is newly adopted, and her owners wanted to learn how to help this shy lady open up and bond with her new family.

We taught her family how to read Rumi’s body language, use a consent test to check if she wanted to be patted, and recognise when she was saying “no”.

We also introduced some relationship-building games to help Rumi feel more comfortable with her family and encourage her to explore more of the house.

By respecting her communication signals and taking things at her pace, Rumi gradually ventured out of her little corner — and even came to boop our hand several times by the end of our session! 🥹

JJ’s owners reached out for help as he has been biting their visitors, with 5–6 incidents over the past year.

For dogs like JJ with stranger danger, we do not recommend meeting visitors at the doorway, which is typically highly emotionally charged for dogs. By changing the antecedent, we can set the dog up for success.

Here, we’re playing Treat-Retreat with JJ, so he gets to gain distance + a nice treat = double reward! With repetition, we observed his body language becoming more relaxed as the predictability of the game helps him feel safer.

Alfie the dachshund! 😍

This lil guy on our Puppy Foundations Programme, covering everything from potty training and loose leash walking to socialisation.

Alfie is a little more sensitive to his environment and tends to bark at anything “suspicious” — ranging from the vacuum to elderly ladies. 😅

We’re working on building his confidence and helping him navigate the world a little more calmly. 🐾

Met Uma and her owners today!

Uma was adopted about a month ago. This 7.5-year-old lady walks calmly on leash outdoors, but is still rather shy and wary at home — often retreating to a corner of the sofa.

Today, we introduced some simple relationship-building games to help her form positive associations with her new family, build trust, and feel safer in her new home. With patience and time, we hope to see Uma gradually open up and gain confidence. 🫶

Berry the Pomspitz! 😍

Her owner recently adopted her and reached out for help as she tends to growl and lunge at other dogs on walks.

She did amazingly well in her first session, learning quickly to stay engaged with her handler and responding well to leash guidance. Looking forward to seeing her confidence grow! 🙌

Functional assessment test with Chewie — the learning never stops! 🙌

As Chewie’s reactivity improved and we got better at managing him, we’ll admit that we also got a little lazy about teaching him new things or pushing his boundaries. 😅

So when we joined a group class, we had our doubts about whether he could cope around other dogs. He definitely proved us wrong! A big thank you to the fellow trainers who knew how to give us the space and distance we needed, and to Russell MeniBar for bringing together this community of like-minded trainers.

Through this process, we were reminded that there’s always something we can improve on — our handling mechanics, reading of situations, and communication with Chewie. Most importantly, we really enjoyed spending this dedicated time with him and creating precious memories with this old boy. 🥰
