ACANA follows closely with Biologically Appropriate™ of dog and cat. The foods are from fresh regional ingredients and we make them from start to finish in our very own award-winning kitchens. BIOLOGICALLY APPRIOPRIATE™
Our foods mirror the richness, freshness and variety of meats for which dogs and cats are evolved to eat. ACANA follow the 5 nature’s rule
1)RICH IN MEAT AND PROTEIN
Your dog or cat is adapted for a diet rich in meat and protein. That’s why ACANA IS LOADED WITH UP TO 75% MEAT—three times as much as conventional dog or cat foods — and ACANA is entirely free of plant protein ingredients.
2)HIGH FRESH MEAT INCLUSION
With up to half of the meats included FRESH OR RAW, ACANA supplies essential nutrients in their most nourishing form, providing the natural savory flavors and goodness that dogs and cats instinctively crave.
3)AN ABUNDANT VARIETY OF FRESH MEATS
In nature, dogs and cats benefit from an assortment of meats, so ACANA features a diversity of cage-free poultry, nest-laid eggs, free-range meats and wild-caught fish that’s simply unmatched.
4) WHOLEPREY™ MEAT RATIOS
Nature matched the nutrients found in whole prey animals to perfectly meet the dietary needs of dogs and cats. ACANA’s ratios of meat, organs and cartilage mirror the natural diet, eliminating the need for long lists of synthetic ingredients.
5) CARBOHYDRATE AND GLYCEMIC LIMITED
The natural diet contains few if any carbo hydrates, so ACANA reduces carbohydrates and replaces fast carbohydrates (such as corn and rice) with low-glycemic fruits and vegetables. FRESH REGIONAL INGREDIENTS
We focus on sustainable and local ingredients raised by people we trust and delivered fresh each day. FREE-RUN POULTRY & EGGS
Raised on farms in ALBERTA, CANADA by people we know and trust, our poultry are raised free-run with constant access to fresh water and feed. WILD AND SUSTAINABLY CAUGHT FISH
Our herring, flounder, rockfish, sardines and salmon are from North Vancouver Island, and our walleye, yellow perch and pike come from our cold northern lakes – all whisked to our kitchens as fresh and cold as the waters they came from. WHOLE FRUITS & VEGETABLES
From Barlett Pears to butternut squash, ACANA features fruits and vegetables delivered fresh from western Canada’s fertile farms and orchards. LOCALLY GROWN BOTANICALS
Custom grown in British Columbia and Saskatchewan by people we know and trust, like Herbert of Cultis Lake, ACANA botanicals are all of North American origin, and delivered either fresh or gently dried under the warm prairie sun. NEVER OUTSOURCED
We’re as passionate about making food as we are about our pets. That’s why we’ve been preparing ACANA in our award-winning kitchens for over a quarter century. We prepare ACANA foods and treats ourselves, with fresh ingredients from trusted local farmers, ranchers and fishermen. We oversee every detail of food preparation, from where our ingredients come from, to every cooking, quality and food safety process. We prepare our own foods in our own kitchens and we DON'T make foods for anyone else. For more information regarding ACANA food you may visit this link. http://acana.com/about-acana/
