WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 – DAY 1! 🏆🐾
Today, Battery 1 has been allocated the hunting grounds around Žitorađa, Serbia.
This area is known for its challenging terrain, with hard ground, patches of thick vegetation and a patchwork of small, diverse crop fields. Bird numbers are good, but expect large coveys and difficult, unpredictable birds that will really test the dogs!
Temperature: A cool 12°C this morning, rising to around 16°C during the day.
Wind: Very, very little to practically non-existent wind, making scenting conditions particularly challenging for the dogs.
Ground conditions: The ground is extremely dry and hard. Although we had a little rain yesterday, the moisture is simply sitting on the topsoil, with very little pe*******on into the dry ground beneath.
These conditions will certainly put the dogs to the test! With almost no wind to help carry the scent and extremely dry ground, finding and handling birds will require exceptional ability, experience and precision.
This is demanding country, where bird handling, stamina, intelligence and teamwork will make all the difference.
Now let's see what they can do!
