Poter - my fairytale come true - part 14

As he was breeding late last summer and I was going to concentrate on starting him under saddle I did not plan on showing him, but then I decided that it would be great for people to see him as the Stallion showcase earlier in the Spring got cancelled due to a snowstorm. So he left for the Swedish National Championships in the southern Sweden on the 2nd of August and arrived Friday afternoon after 13 hours in the lorry. A few hours later he competed in the huge liberty class and although very tired he made a great show and was placed 3rd out of 11 entries. My dear friend Maria Holgersson showed him together with me in the liberty class and she showed him the day after in the stallion class where he won and later was named unanimous Swedish National Gold Champion Stallion! To hear his name and see him and Maria come into the ring as Gold Champions is a memory I will cherish forever. Maria showed him beautifully and it was so precious to share this victory with her! I have always had the faith in Poter that he has the quality to become National Champion, but to stand there with the trophy in my hand was an amazing moment and I am beyond proud of my boy!

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 13

In 2023 we had a wonderful Open House with a lot of old and new friends. The weather was not with us the whole time and during the horse presentation the rain poured down. Poter did not mind and did his thing and showed great with Louise Wale and then running with Erik.

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 12

Poter´s first official appearance was at the 2022 Swedish National Show where he won the 3-year old c**t class and was named Swedish National Junior Bronze Champion Stallion. He was then shown at the Swedish Arab Horse Society´s stallion showcase in April 2023.

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 11

My favorite Ecaho-daughter has always been Palmeta, she is just like a swan like her ethereal father combined perfectly with the look of her great dam family down to P**i and Pilarka. Palmeta´s dam Pilica (Fawor x P**i) is a full-sister to Pinga´s dam Pilar, yet Pilica was bay and Pilar a striking flea bitten grey. Palmeta and Poter is extremely closely related in blood with the only horses added in the pedigree to create Poter is Gazal Al Shaqab (Anaza El Farid x Kajora) and his daughter Pinga.
Gazal Al Shaqab has been very special for me since I saw a photo of him as a weanling as his grand-dam Edjora (Exelsjor x Edessa) was born at my neighbours farm where I spent all my free time as a young girl. My dream has always been to breed to Gazal to incorporate Edjora in my breeding program, but I have not had the possibility. To finally have him available through Poter is another piece falling into place and it shows that when the time is right good things will come to you. Poter´s pedigree is filled with so many important horses and he is a true Polish treasure not only for me personally but also for future generations as an important progenitor of the Ibrahim d.b. sire line. For me Poter is everything I love about Polish horses and Polish Arabian horse breeding.

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 10

Life is filled with miracles and a big miracle for me took place when I bought Poter and with him it felt like I got my beloved Ecaho back. His illustrious dam Pinga has always been my favorite since I saw her being crowned Polish National Champion the first time as a yearling filly. I simply love her attitude, her presence and the abundance of charisma she possess and carry on to her offspring. To have a son of hers had not even been in my dreams as it felt so unachievable so bringing Poter home felt so special. It was heartbreaking when I got the tragic news 5 days after the auction that Pinga passed away and a whole world mourned one of the most legendary Arabian mares that ever lived.

Friday 17th of April 2021 Poter finally arrived at our farm and I was stunned when I saw him walk off the lorry, he was so beautiful and when he later was turned loose in the paddock I was mesmerized - he is definitely his mother´s son with the same attitude, movement and his neck is totally out of this world with the legendary neck of Ecaho combined with the ”hook” of Pinga/Gazal. And he is just as sweet and gentle as both Ecaho and Pinga, he puts a big smile on my face every time I see him and he is a pure joy to work with.

Poter is a dream come true, he is everything I dreamt and hoped for with the combination of Ecaho and Pinga. I knew that he would stay with me forever and I felt no rush to drag him out to shows. He got a quiet first summer at the farm when we got to know each other, we x-rayed him with clear results, did all the genetic tests (CA, SCID, OAAM and LFS) and he came back as non-carrier on all tests which was a relief as Ecaho was a CA-carrier. Poter did the necessary health requirement to be licensed and later in the summer he bred a mare and I was so excited to see what he would produce. I was overwhelmed by the response from all over the world and especially Poland where people wrote that they were so happy that I bought Poter and that he was safe for the future and that really warmed my heart as I knew that Janów had another change of Director not long after I bought him and you never knew what the decisions could be made about the horses and Poter´s pedigree makes him a valuable treasure.

With 2020 came Covid and to my big sorrow I was not able to travel to Poland, but my mind was stuck on Pinga´s grey c**t and I was planning to go down to Janów as soon as I could to see how he matured.
One day in March 2021 I came upon a Facebook post with a discussion about an upcoming monthly auction at Janów and several people was upset that they were offering 5 Ecaho-c**ts for sale. Normally Janów put up photos and information about their sale horses, but somehow this auction was only posted in Polish with no photos and I went to Janóws web-page and found the list. I was shocked when I saw that Poter (Ecaho x Pinga) was one of the c**ts offered on the list. We already had a stallion at stud and was in the process of building our new farm so it was no time to buy another horse, but I knew that I at least had to to put in a bid on Poter, he had been in my heart even since before he was born and I could not let him go without at least trying to get him. Especially since I just a few days prior to these bad news got the final answer from the vet clinic in California where Joaquin and I kept all our frozen semen from Ecaho that the semen was not eligible for export. I had been trying to ship my part of the frozen semen since 2019 with a lot of difficulties and delays and I finally found out that the mandatory CEM-tests made prior to the freezing of the semen were not correctly done by the clinic within the mandatory date frames. I was devastated that the possibility for European breeders to breed to Ecaho was forever lost and that made the loss of Ecaho even harder for me.
I contacted Janów and breeding manager Katarzyna Stepczuk sent me some mobile-videos of Poter and looking at the videos I just knew I had no choice, the morning of the auction after a sleepless night I sent Janów an offer and knew that I had put my and Poter´s future in the hands of fate. Thursday 25th of March would be a very long day and I did not hear a thing after the closure of the auction, so my heart sank and I guessed that lot 18 had been sold to someone else. At 15.32 I get a message on my phone and it is from Katarzyna Stepczuk… one single sentence and I burst into tears of joy - ”you bought POTER in auction”

On the 20th of March 2019 Pinga gave birth to a c**t and I was thrilled that Janów got a successor to Ecaho to carry on the valuable sireline of Ibrahim d.b. I went to see Pinga and her c**t when I visited Janów in August 2019 and I totally fell in love with her c**t, he was a cutie!

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 7

One of the stipulations when Janów Podlaski sold Ecaho to Jim was that they would have unlimited access to frozen semen so they still could use him in their breeding program. Janów Podlaski bred a large group of 10 mares to Ecaho in 2018 and I was thrilled that one of my all-time favorite mares - Pinga (Gazal Al Shaqab x Pilar/Fawor) was one of the chosen mares. Pinga is a grand-daughter to the great P**i, so this coming foal would have both Pepton and P**i in the pedigree, two horses very close to my heart. My first thought was that I hope that it would be a c**t as I just knew that this combination was a match made in heaven.

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 6

That day in 1995 when I was in awe over Ecaho I could never dream of how much I would be involved in this amazing stallion and I am truly blessed to have so many memories with him during the years. Ecaho was sold in 2003 to Jim Ferlita in USA and I became the European agent for Ecaho in 2007 and later worldwide agent when he was sold to Haras De Cardenas - Joaquin Bin and J & G De Cardenas in 2008. The last years of Ecaho´s life I was honoured to be his last owner together with Joaquin Bin until Ecaho´s death in August 2019 at the age of 29.

Poter - my fairytale come true - part 5

I bought my first mare in 1991, the bay Sapala by Cadyk (El Paso x Cumparsita/Gwarny) out of Saldara (Dardir x Salamalaika/Algier) bred by Beit El Kheil Arabians and I bred her to Elton (Etnograf x Elizbieta/Cadyk) producing Salaterka in 1997. Salaterka was everything I could have dreamt of and when she was born I knew that my dream match for her would be Ecaho. Breeding is all about passion along with a lot of patience and finally 11 years later I had the opportunity to breed Salaterka to him and the result in 2009 was a stunning filly whom I named Silencia. Besides Silencia, Salaterka gifted me with another precious daughter, Sharda (by Ganges) and Sharda was bred her first time to Ecaho and produced a daughter, Shamira in 2020.
