Ten Years Without You

Ten years ago, our lives changed forever when we lost our beloved founder, Dr. Paul Hensen, to su***de.
As a devoted father, husband and friend, his passing shattered our world in ways we could never have imagined.
We never thought it could happen to us, until it did.

The grief of losing someone to su***de is complex, isolating, and deeply painful. It leaves questions that may never have answers, and a silence that echoes through the lives of those left behind. But, from the depths of that grief, we have tried to keep going. For Paul. For the legacy he left behind. And for the people and animals he dedicated his life to helping.

Paul’s legacy is woven into the heart of Qatar. From founding two of Doha’s most respected veterinary hospitals to establishing petsafeqatar.com, the national microchip database we still run, completely free and unsolicited, in his memory. Paul’s vision and compassion continue to guide us every day.
Even on the hardest days, the ones that nearly broke us, we’ve worked to honour his life by continuing the mission he began. We hope he would be proud of the impact he’s made, and the lives that continue to be touched by his work.

Paul was known and loved across the world, from New Zealand, the UK, Bermuda, the USA, Saudi Arabia, to Australia, as a gifted veterinarian, a gentle soul, and above all, a deeply loving father and husband.

To anyone carrying the weight of grief or struggling in silence, we see you. We feel your pain. And we send our love.

We just love seeing pets and their people reunite after a staycation.
Custard was so happy to see her bestie and from the smiles and the dancing, the feels were mutual.

Unfortunately, we have yet to come across a cat or dog who can clean their own teeth! So, it’s down to us loving owners to ensure that pets pearly whites stay in tip top condition.

We recommend bringing your pets in for regular check-ups, because dental problems can trigger other health issues.
Occasionally, they can also be an indication of other underlying, potentially serious conditions. 
If plaque and tartar are allowed to build up, Cats and Dogs will need to have their teeth cleaned under anaesthetic.

Because we know how important it is to keep an eye on dental health, we recommend teeth should be checked at least once a year by one of the QVC veterinary team.

To keep your pets in tip top shape we can offer the best possible advice and guidance for their home dental care.
 
However, if you notice any of the following signs, please book in for a check-up as soon as possible. They can occasionally be a symptom of something more serious.

🦷Constant bad breath
🦷Discoloured teeth or covered in tartar
🦷Broken or loose teeth
🦷Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
🦷Pain in or around the mouth
🦷Bleeding from the gums
