🦷 POMEGRANATE: A SURPRISING SUPERFRUIT FOR YOUR DOG’S MOUTH! 🍎

Did you know that about 80% of dogs over the age of 3 develop some degree of gum disease? Bad breath is often the first sign, but over time harmful mouth bacteria can lead to plaque, tartar, inflamed gums, tooth loss, and may even contribute to inflammation throughout the body.
That’s why the research on pomegranate is so exciting.

A peer-reviewed study found pomegranate reduced one of the main bacteria responsible for canine gum disease by nearly 40% while slowing the growth of other harmful bacteria linked to plaque, tartar, and bad breath. A second study in dogs found a pomegranate-containing water additive helped reduce plaque, tartar, bleeding gums, and gum inflammation compared with controls.

Beyond oral health, pomegranates are packed with powerful polyphenols that help protect cells from oxidative stress and support healthy inflammation. They also contain ellagitannins, which beneficial gut microbes convert into urolithin A—a compound being studied for its role in supporting healthy mitochondria, muscles, and healthy aging.

Healthy mouths start with a healthy microbiome. While brushing is still the gold standard, supporting both the oral and gut microbiome provide even greater benefits. That’s one reason why Dr. Karen Becker formulated Primitive Probiotics™ with clinically studied strains to help nourish beneficial bacteria from the inside out and support digestive, immune, and oral health.
