“Totem Metellos” is a new limited edition by Moroccan artist Ghizlane Agzenaï, created exclusively for Underdogs and marking the first time the artist has brought one of her signature Totems to life using ceramics.

Built through an intuitive arrangement of geometric forms, the work explores the relationship between colour, volume, and space.

The transition into ceramics introduces a new handmade and organic quality to Agzenaï’s distinctive visual language, giving her composition a new physical dimension shaped by texture, depth, and materiality.

The title brings together two important references in the artist’s universe. “Totem” refers to an object representing a benevolent spirit, reflecting her intention to convey positive energy through her work, while “Metellos” takes its name from a planet in the Star Wars universe, a longstanding source of inspiration for the artist.

Still thinking about the opening of .para’s new exhibition at Underdogs Gallery! 🎨

After weeks of welcoming visitors into her working studio, the event marked the end of a month-long open residency and the beginning of a new chapter for “Troca o Passo”. You can now see the results and explore how everything has come together.

A big thank you to Ana, to everyone who took part in the residency, to all those who came to celebrate with us and to .bolos for the amazing cake!

NOW ON VIEW: ANA MALTA – “TROCA O PASSO” FINAL EXHIBITION

After more than a month of experimentation, exchange, and discovery, .para ’s residency at Underdogs Gallery has come to an end – but “Troca o Passo” continues.

The works created throughout the residency now come together in an exhibition, bringing into view the different ideas, experiments, and directions that emerged along the way.

Join us today, 9 October from 7–9 pm, for the exhibition opening and discover where the process has led.

“Troca o Passo” will remain on view at the gallery until 24 October.

A CLOSER LOOK AT “TROCA O PASSO” 🎨

As Ana Malta’s residency at Underdogs Gallery approaches its final days, .para and curator take a closer look at one of the works that has been taking shape throughout the past month.

Created across almost 100 individual sheets of paper, the work began as a single large-scale drawing before opening itself up to change. Conceived for visitors to move and rearrange its different parts, it turns the idea of “troca” – exchange – into part of the work itself.

Along the way, the process also pushed Ana beyond some of her usual ways of working, from exchanging canvas for paper to reversing the order in which she normally approaches colour and drawing.

“Troca o Passo” residency continues until 8 October, followed by the exhibition opening 9 October, from 6–9 pm.

“Per Aspera Ad Astra”, the new limited edition by Ana Malta, is nearly complete.

As .para’s “Troca o Passo” residency unfolds at Underdogs Gallery, new works produced during the coming weeks will be transformed into new stickers and added to the original selection, connecting what happens in the Gallery directly to what each collector will eventually receive.

And then, the process passes on to you.

Each edition brings together a sticker book, a pack of stickers, and a giclée print, with the freedom to add, move, layer, and rearrange the elements – or leave them untouched. How the edition takes its final form is your choice.

The artist creates. The residency transforms. You decide what happens next.

Meet Moroccan artist 👋

Colour, geometry, and a constant search for new forms of expression define the practice of artist .

Moving across painting, sculpture, installation, and design, Agzenaï has developed a distinctive visual language built around what she calls “Totems” – geometric compositions conceived as objects that carry positive energy, strength, and a sense of connection.

Her work moves freely between scales, materials, and contexts: from gallery spaces and three-dimensional pieces to large-scale interventions in public space, including the façade of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat.

Now, a new material is entering the picture! Ghizlane Agzenaï is currently working with ceramics for the first time to create a new limited edition with Underdogs, releasing on October 14th, at 4PM!
