It’s my sweet friend Paula’s birthday (), and she might kill me for this video. So please love on it a lot so we can make her feel completely love-bombed, in the best possible way.
You see, Paula is one of those people who doesn’t care for grand displays of affection. Which is quite ironic, because she is also one of the people I know who loves the loudest.
She has what I can only describe as a vocation for animals. She treats them, rescues them, fosters them, adopts them, advocates for them, and somehow always seems to know what they need: with an extraordinary understanding of both behaviour and health.
She gives so much to the world through her creativity, too. You might know her as an outstanding photographer, but what I love most is the way she seems to bring the same attention, sensitivity and care to everything she does.
So, on your birthday: love you, my friend. Thank you for teaching me an absurd amount of practical things over the years about adulting and caring for dogs. But most of all, thank you for teaching me so much about love, especially the kind that doesn’t always need to announce itself to be enormous ❤️
