The sound of the ocean reminds us daily how close we are. One of our favorite moments is waking up or going to bed listening to the waves crashing on the shore.

Between gardening, painting, or running the kids around, it’s easy to think, ‘I’ll go see the ocean tomorrow’. Because one thinks and knows it will be there tomorrow also.

But while you’re staying with us, please go as often as you can! Because it’s stunning. The waves, the cliffs, different colors of stone and sky, the fog, the wind, the sun. Take it all in.

Who knew that a steamjuicer bought at 01:00 AM (after spending slightly to much time on insta looking at other people process grapes) would be such a succes!

Volunteers and guests helped us pick them, because we had so many this year. Leading to a freezer full of grapejuice.
Great to add to jams also.

One last round of fresh tomatoes. They’re great as a little sweet snack during the day, or served warm for breakfast.

The temporary veg garden is coming to end and the new raised beds are ready for the next stage: filling them with organic matter.

We started planning during our ‘seed meeting’ the other day. Simultaneously getting to know each other better, through their herb, veg and flower preferences.

The best crunch you’ll hear all day.

Watermelon season is still going strong, and the farm crew definitely approves. Sharing the harvest with our five horses is one of our favorite summer routines.

They live outside full-time at Monte Meu and we love seeing them enjoy horse life out in the fields.

Our “Cuddles & Grooms” is just as therapeutic for them as it is for anyone who loves horses.

A quick conversation where one of us has the idea and the other makes the decision. Something Sara and I do often.

Antiques from moms, vintage lace sewn by grandma, wineglasses found when treasurehunting at a 2nd hand store and a touch of sunshine. We love mixing old and new with fresh garden energy to create tables that feel warm, welcoming and relaxed.

Our Monte calls for cooking, dining and living outdoors.

No four walls: an open view and a cool ocean breeze.
And prepping dinner as the sun sets over the sea is our favorite summer plan.
Garden vegetables on the grill, animals around and everyone lending a hand. Good food nourishes us, but the time we spend being together, that’s what truly brings the week to life.
