🐾 WHY YOUR GROOMER MAY SAY “NO” TO THE HAIRCUT YOU WANT

Sometimes, the haircut you request isn’t safe for your pet—especially when the coat is severely matted or pelted.

✂️ Severe Matting = Different Approach

When mats are tightly packed against the skin, groomers may need to change the requested haircut or recommend a close shave-down.

Why?

🐶 Brushing out severe mats can be painful.
Tight mats pull on the skin with every brush stroke.

⚠️ Clipping underneath severe mats carries risks.
The skin trapped beneath the mat can be difficult to see and may be irritated, fragile, or injured.

💧 Mats can trap moisture, dirt, and bacteria.
This creates an environment where skin irritation and infection can develop.

🩹 Trying to preserve the coat at all costs can cause more harm than good.

For a heavily matted coat, a close shave-down is often the safest and most humane option. It removes the tight, trapped coat and allows the skin to be properly assessed and cared for.

A shorter haircut today is better than a painful grooming experience or skin injury tomorrow. ❤️

👉 Regular brushing and scheduled grooming can help prevent severe matting before it reaches this stage.

Please trust your professional groomer when they recommend changing the haircut for your pet’s safety. 🐾
