Case of the Week: Closed-Type Pyometra

This patient was presented with decreased appetite, weight loss, and lethargy — signs that may look simple but can indicate a serious, life-threatening condition.

Closed-type pyometra is especially dangerous because there may be no visible vaginal discharge, while infection continues to build inside the uterus.

The patient underwent OVH surgery and has now been discharged, recovering at home. 🐾

Early diagnosis and veterinary care can save lives.
Spaying is one of the best ways to prevent pyometra and other uterine diseases.

Have your pet checked if you notice sudden weakness, poor appetite, or weight loss.

Normal lang ba ‘to after vaccine… or emergency na?” 💉🐾

Vaccines help protect pets from serious and preventable diseases, but pet parents should know what’s normal and what’s not.

Mild sleepiness, slight fever, mild swelling, or decreased appetite can happen after vaccination and usually improve within 24–48 hours.

But if your pet shows severe vomiting/diarrhea, facial swelling, hives, difficulty breathing, severe coughing, collapse, or extreme weakness, call your veterinarian immediately.

When in doubt, don’t guess—ask your vet. 💙💛

Is your pet becoming a picky eater? 🐶🐱

Try feeding on a regular schedule, offering smaller and more frequent meals, and adding variety by mixing in new textures or flavors to their usual pet food. This can help make mealtime more exciting while still keeping their diet familiar.

A sudden loss of appetite may also be a sign of an underlying health concern, so it’s best to consult a vet if your pet refuses food or eats less than usual. 💛🐾

🚨 FLUTD Awareness: Don’t Ignore the Signs! 🐱

Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition, especially in male cats. Early detection can save your pet’s life.

🔍 Common signs to watch out for:
• Straining or difficulty urinating
• Frequent trips to the litter box with little to no urine
• Crying or vocalizing while urinating
• Blood in the urine
• Urinating outside the litter box
• Excessive licking of the ge***al area
• Lethargy, loss of appetite, or vomiting (in severe cases)

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
If your cat is unable to urinate, this is an EMERGENCY. A blocked bladder can become fatal within 24–48 hours.

🏥 What to do:
Bring your cat to the clinic immediately if you notice any of these signs. Early treatment greatly improves recovery and prevents complications.

💡 Prevention tips:
• Ensure constant access to clean water
• Feed a balanced, urinary-support diet if recommended
• Keep the litter box clean and stress-free
• Encourage regular urination

Your awareness can save your cat’s life. Don’t wait—act fast.

🚨 DISTEMPER CASES ARE SURGING 🚨
We’ve been seeing a concerning increase in Canine Distemper cases lately.

This is a serious reminder for all dog owners:
Canine Distemper is highly contagious, often fatal, and preventable through vaccination.

Many affected dogs are either unvaccinated, incompletely vaccinated, or overdue for booster shots.

⚠️ COMMON SIGNS TO WATCH OUT FOR:
• Fever
• Thick eye or nose discharge
• Coughing / difficulty breathing
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Weakness or depression
• Muscle twitching
• Seizures or abnormal movement in severe cases

Once the virus reaches the nervous system, the chance of recovery becomes much lower.

💉 VACCINATION IS YOUR DOG’S BEST PROTECTION
There is no specific cure for Canine Distemper. Treatment is supportive only, and not all patients survive.

✅ Puppies should complete their vaccine series
✅ Adult dogs need regular booster shots
✅ Avoid exposing unvaccinated dogs to public areas or sick dogs

📢 Act Now!
If your dog is showing any signs, bring them to the clinic immediately.
If your dog is not yet vaccinated or overdue for boosters, schedule their vaccination as soon as possible.

Do not wait for symptoms. Protect them before it’s too late.
