📝 CHANNA FIN TYPES EXPLAINED

Not all Channa are created equal! One of the most sought-after traits among hobbyists is fin height, especially in grooming and show-quality fish.

🔹 Normal Fin – Standard dorsal and a**l fins with a streamlined appearance.

🔹 High Fin (HF) – Noticeably taller fins that give the fish a fuller, more majestic profile.

🔹 Super High Fin (SHF) – Exceptionally tall, sail-like fins that are highly prized by collectors.

⚠️ Remember: Fin height is primarily determined by genetics. Proper grooming, premium nutrition, clean water, tannins, and good husbandry help a fish reach its maximum potential, but they cannot turn a genetically normal-fin fish into a true High Fin or Super High Fin.

At A AND S TROPICAL, we believe informed hobbyists make better keepers. We hope this guide helps you better understand and appreciate the different fin types in Channa.

Meet the Indian Snakehead / False Marulius — a powerful predator from the southern Western Ghats of India.
Channa pseudomarulius is known for its olive body, yellow lateral markings, dark blotches, orange pectoral fins, and long spotted dorsal and a**l fins. Juveniles show stronger colors, while adults develop a more natural camouflage pattern as they grow.
