Blackie came to our clinic with a swollen ear flap, caused by an aural hematoma. 🩸

With the owner’s consent, surgical treatment was performed to remove the collected blood and help the ear heal properly. 🩺✨

Sarcoptic mange, or canine scabies, is a highly contagious skin disease caused by microscopic mites. It causes intense itching, redness, crusting, and hair loss—especially around the ears, elbows, and abdomen.

It is also zoonotic, meaning infected dogs can temporarily transmit the mites to people, causing an itchy rash.

Early veterinary treatment, proper hygiene, and treating exposed pets are important to stop the spread. 🐶🩺

Ang buto na naiipit sa teeth, gums, o palate ay maaaring magdulot ng pain, bleeding, excessive drooling, at difficulty eating.

❌ Huwag basta hilahin lalo na kung malalim o matulis ang pagkakaipit.

👩‍⚕️ Have your pet checked by a veterinarian for safe removal and proper oral examination.

Prevention is always better than complications! 🐾

🚨 FELINE URINARY BLOCKAGE IS AN EMERGENCY! 🐱

Furparents, kapag ang pusa ay paulit-ulit pumupunta sa litter box pero walang lumalabas na ihi, huwag itong balewalain—especially sa male cats.

⚠️ Warning signs:
• Straining o pag-iri habang umiihi
• Kaunti o walang ihi
• Pag-iyak/meowing sa litter box
• Madalas na pagdila sa ge***al area
• Dugo sa ihi
• Panghihina, pagsusuka o pagkawala ng appetite

Kapag completely blocked ang urethra, naiipon ang urine at maaaring magdulot ng kidney injury at life-threatening electrolyte problems.

❗ Hindi ito simpleng “UTI lang.” Huwag maghintay na kusang makaihi.

🐾 If your cat cannot urinate, seek veterinary care IMMEDIATELY.

🐾🔦 WOOD’S LAMP EXAMINATION AT NORTH HARBOUR VETERINARY CLINIC

Did you know that UV light can help veterinarians examine certain skin conditions in dogs? 🐶✨

In this video, our veterinary team performs a Wood’s Lamp Examination—a simple, non-invasive procedure that uses UV-A light to look for fluorescence on the skin and hair.

🔬 Why is it done?
A Wood’s lamp can be used as an aid in detecting certain fungal infections, including some cases of ringworm (dermatophytosis). Areas that fluoresce may give our veterinary team an important clue about what could be causing a pet’s skin problem.

⚠️ Important: Fluorescence under a Wood’s lamp does not automatically mean that a pet has ringworm. Additional diagnostic tests may be recommended by the veterinarian to confirm the cause.
