๐ด๐๐๐ was presented to ๐ถ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐ถ๐๐๐๐๐ for a second opinion following a suspected diagnosis of ๐๐ก๐ค๐จ๐๐-๐๐๐ง๐ซ๐๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ค๐ข๐๐ฉ๐ง๐ at another veterinary facility, based on radiographic findings and blood test results. Her complete blood count (CBC) revealed ๐ก๐๐ช๐ ๐ค๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ค๐จ๐๐จ (elevated white blood cell count), consistent with an ongoing inflammatory or infectious process.
Further diagnostic evaluation was performed, including an ๐๐๐๐ค๐ข๐๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐ช๐ก๐ฉ๐ง๐๐จ๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐, which subsequently confirmed the presence of pyometra.
Interestingly, ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ง๐๐ข๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐, ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ฉ, ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ค๐ค๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ. Her owner had only noticed unusual gurgling sounds coming from her abdomen, prompting further concern.

In closed-cervix pyometra, the cervix remains closed, preventing infected uterine contents from draining. As a result, there may be no visible vaginal discharge, making the condition more difficult to recognize.
Following confirmation of the diagnosis, Maki underwent ๐๐ข๐๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฎ ๐จ๐ช๐ง๐๐๐ง๐ฎ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐ง๐๐ข๐ค๐ซ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐ช๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ช๐จ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ค๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐๐จ (ovariohysterectomy).
We are pleased to share that ๐๐๐ ๐โ๐จ ๐จ๐ช๐ง๐๐๐ง๐ฎ ๐ฌ๐๐จ ๐จ๐ช๐๐๐๐จ๐จ๐๐ช๐ก! She recovered well from anesthesia and was already eating after the procedure โ an encouraging sign during her initial recovery. She remained confined overnight for close postoperative monitoring.
