A 3-year-old dachshund named Alper tested positive for the .𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗿u𝘀 (𝗖𝗗𝗩).
Alper's only symptom was 𝙎𝙚𝙞𝙯𝙪𝙧𝙚 . Although canine distemper typically begins with gastrointestinal (diarrhea, vomiting) and respiratory (coughing, runny nose) symptoms, the virus can attack the central nervous system (CNS) without causing a substantial prior illness. After ruling out toxins and other infectious illnesses, a CDV test was used. Dogs and other animals can contract the extremely contagious and potentially lethal 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗿u𝘀 (𝗖𝗗𝗩).The severity of clinical symptoms ranges from asymptomatic to quickly life-threatening. Dogs that are young or unvaccinated are particularly vulnerable, but CDV can be prevented by immunisation, which is a fundamental vaccination for all dogs. The most prevalent way that dogs contract CDV is by airborne droplet exposure.

When an owner and veterinarian decide that a pet is suffering or unlikely to make a recovery, euthanasia offers a way to end a pet's pain. The decision is difficult for both the owner and the veterinarian, but we should recognize that sometimes this is the kindest thing we can do in the final stage of a pet's life.

Pet euthanasia is a humane procedure to end an animal's life peacefully, usually by administering an overdose of anesthetic, often after a sedative, to stop the heart and breathing quickly and painlessly, allowing the pet to drift off to sleep without suffering, though involuntary reflexes like gasps or muscle twitches can occur after consciousness is lost. It's a compassionate choice for pets with terminal illness, poor quality of life, or incurable suffering, designed to be a "good death".

The Bible doesn't directly address pet euthanasia, but biblical principles suggest that while humans have stewardship over animals (Genesis 1:26), this includes caring for them mercifully and preventing unnecessary suffering (Proverbs 12:10, Luke 14:5). Therefore, many Christians believe that deciding to euthanize a suffering pet, when all reasonable treatment options are exhausted, can be a compassionate act of stewardship to end torment, reflecting God's mercy, rather than a morally wrong act.

The feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) was detected in Maru, a 6-month-old cat. He has been vomiting, anorexic, and lethargic for the past three days. Maru has not been vaccinated against the said virus.
Feline panleukopenia virus, also known as feline distemper, is a highly contagious, life-threatening infectious disease in cats. Feline panleukopenia virus is closely related to canine parvovirus.
The feline panleukopenia virus is present in all excretions of infected cats, particularly the f***s. A susceptible cat can be infected by direct contact with an infected cat, or the virus can be transferred via contaminated water, food bowls, or on shoes and clothing.
Often, cats with FPV develop other infections because their immune system is weakened. They may have purulent (green/yellow) discharge from the eyes and nose. In young kittens with severe infections, sometimes the only clinical sign is sudden death.
Vaccination is the best way to prevent feline panleukopenia virus infections.(petmd.com)

These test kits are Ehrlichia-positive kits of our 4 different dog patients (Missy, Rookie, Rumi, and Cooper). These dogs were just brought to the clinic due to their recurrent skin problem (dermatitis, alopecia, and pruritus). They do not exhibit anorexia, fever, or lethargy, which are typical symptoms of ehrlichiosis. Only Missy exhibits weight loss in spite of a good appetite. All of them have anemia (low RBC, Hb, and HCT) & thrombocytopenia(low platelet) in their CBC.
