FYI
Have you noticed Pepper's Paw Friends' handle says "mlemlemlemblubnyan"? That's because this IG account was originally for our pets back when I first made it 😆 At the time, we had 3 dogs, 1 turtle, and 1 cat (Gourdo). Eventually- and because I'm lazy- I just changed the name so we could use the account for our activities as rescuers/fosterers/volunteer feeders 😅

So yes, the "blub" part is our 7 year old turtle, Shelby (gov't name: Da Vinci) 🐢 He's actually bigger now, but i love this picture of him years back bc it's his cutest 🤣

LOOKING FOR FUREVER HOME 🏠
CLARY

▫️rescued
▫️Gender: female
▫️leash trained
▫️Location: BCDA, Taguig (near C5 Petron)
▫️Age: not conclusive

Clary was found anemic, dehydrated, malnourished, and covered in demodectic mange. Thankfully, she fought hard to survive and was able to recover ✨ She is now doing well, very playful, eats hefty, and is a very cuddly lap dog.

Her future family should be willing to continue her medicated baths until her fur fully recovers and ready for grooming (she still has a few bald and itchy spots at the moment). She will also need another check up to confirm that her mange is completely gone.

We wanted to foster her a bit longer, until her fur is pretty again, but we couldn't keep her in her cage anymore. She's become very bored and usually barks 24/7 in her cage. Sadly, we couldn't let her lounge around the house either as we have our own aspin mix who doesn't like new dogs and would usually nip at Clary whenever we let her out of the cage to stretch 😔.

This adoption is free.

Interested furparents should be willing to be interviewed for screening.

We can do handovers at Market Market or C5 Petron (near Cypress Towers). Kindly provide your own carrier or leash.

We will automatically reject handovers via express riders.

tw: 🕊️🌈

We unfortunately lost Taray last night from causes unknown to us. He still ate and wagged his tail when our friend fed him in the afternoon (his 2nd meal, he has another feeder in the mornings, and another in the evenings. He also has others who would give him treats occasionally), but our friend's coworker messaged her last night saying Taray had passed when they checked on him for the evening.

We weren't able to raise enough funds for his vet check up, and the little donation we received was used to buy his food and sanitary supplies. Many people cared for him at our neighborhood food hub. He received treats throughout the day, his cage was always clean, and he was given the best spot in the hub. People took care of him the best they could, but it seems they overestimated his seemingly healthy demeanor 😞 We should have pushed more for a vet check up 😞

All we could do now is take comfort in knowing that he was at least clean, well-fed, and loved during his last days. He became a mascot for the food hub regardless of how short his stay was. He provided the hoomans a breather and a companion during their break times. He was loved during his final days, a lot better than having strayed because he was thrown away like a mere doll by his previous owner.

Rest easy, Taray. No more pain. We hope we loved you enough that you didn't feel too lonely when you passed.

Update on the abandoned senior dog 🧓

His foster named him "Taray" because he refuses to be friendly 😅 They asked me to help clean his cage today and yes, he is incredibly grumpy 😅 I'm glad he let me put food in his bowl without biting me, but his teeth were ready 🤣

This grumpy grampa had to be jailed because he's too quick to bite hoomans 😅 Since he stays at a food hub, a lot of people come and go, and some who love animals or think he's cute would always attempt to pet him; and since his caretakers are working, they wouldn't be able to watch him all the time 🥺

Thankfully, he's starting to get comfortable with his caretakers and he is slowly letting them pet and handle him for cleaning ❤️

Friendly reminder that an aggressive and bitey chihuahua is not "normal" for the breed no matter what the internet shows. It is the result of wrong training or lack thereof. Dogs, regardless of breed [or any companion animal for the matter], need to be trained to develop agreeable and amicable behavior and temperament. Chihuahuas are usually just overlooked because people think them being little gremlins are "cute" and would usually aggravate the behavior more by purposely annoying their chihuahuas 🙃 A bigger dog breed with a bitey chihuahua's personality would have caused lawsuits, online outcry, and city ordinances telling owners to muzzle their dogs and basically put them in straightjackets- some breeds are even illegal to own because "they bite" 🙄 It's not just chihuahuas actually. Generally smaller breeds like shih tzus, lhasa apsos, maltese, mini pinschers, or what-have-yous are always allowed to and left to misbehave because "they're cute". Let's change that mindset please, for the safety of everyone, human and dog. Medical bills generated by ERIGs are not cute frfr.

It's never the breed or the individual dog, it's the humans.

Update on Clary ➰

Why rescue? Because love is the strongest kind of magic innate to humans ✨

From a lost pup who aimlessly wandered around and dug through food scraps to a bright-eyed, energetic and chonky little gremlin who managed to scam half a kilo of food from her new fosterer on their first day together 😆 Clary is doing so much better and her transformation is already visible ❤️ The same couldn't be said for hooman Chesca who is still on medication for scabies and eczema which she got from Clary- coincidentally tho, it's only because hooman Chesca is immuno compromised 🙃

Because Clary isn't completely healed yet and still has some ongoing prescriptions, she stayed 24/7 in a cage back in our tiny home. She's gotten so bored that she barked at the smallest of sounds and was so eager for attention. But because hooman Chesca and her brother already got infected with scabies, everyone in the household was adviced by the human doctor to keep contact with Clary as little as possible 🥺 Luckily, we found a fosterer who could allow Clary to walk around their home and actually give Clary outdoor playtime everyday ❤️❤️❤️ We are still in charge of Clary's food, medicine, vet visits, and supplies while our friend is in charge of boarding, walkies, and playtime ✨

Special and huge thank yous to Ate Trisha, Ate Audrie, and Ate Pat 💖💖💖

If you would like to support Clary's journey to 100% recovery, we are still open to in-kind donations as well as donations through gcash ❤️ It would be incredibly helpful if Clary can receive dog food and vitamins.

A Mothers' Day Story

We rescued Athena🌈 back in 2022 when a neighbor posted about her and her kittens in our neighborhood group page. She apparently gave birth to her kittens at the stairway and got aggressive whenever someone walked by. The neighbor was scared that his children might accidentally get scratched or bitten, so he asked for help online. At first he was contemplating sending Athena and her kittens away to the pound, but when we volunteered to take her in, they became our first official rescues.

Athena originally had 4 kittens: 3 pure white kittens and her unico hijo and tuxedo, Archie 🌈. While they were on their first round of antibiotics, we lost the smallest white kitten and were so nervous that we might lose Archie because he was also small. But Athena stepped up and started taking better care of her kittens after finishing her prescription ❤️. The two remaining white kittens got adopted eventually, but Athena and Archie became our first foster fails 😆. They were close, but after they both got chonky, Athena started getting annoyed whenever Archie squeezed in with her 🤣 Archie usually resorted to lying somewhere close to his mom instead of directly beside her 😅

tw: 🌈🕊️

In 2024, Archie was diagnosed with a UTI that progressed too fast. We gave him different medicines but nothing worked. He succumbed to organ failure after months of medication. The next few months after Archie passed, Athena started going around Archie's usual sleeping spots and hidey-holes. She'd sometimes meow at walls, but we're certain she was actually calling for Archie (we weren't able to bring Archie back home from the clinic so Athena didn't see his body). Athena started losing her appetite and refused anything we tried to do to make her feel better. After months of looking around, Athena passed right beside our foster kittens' crib [at that time]. She was certainly looking for her baby and got depressed after failing to find him.

💖💖

To the mama cats who are doing their best to keep their young alive, we see you. We know how hard life is for you. And we hope to become ripples for a future that could take better care of you.
