Today, our clinic encountered what appears to be a ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ต๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐๐น๐ ๐น๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐น๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ๐.
Our clinic recently posted an urgent appeal for a blood donor for a patient who is critically ill and desperately needs a blood transfusion.
A person contacted us claiming that he could provide a blood donor. He told us that he was a ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น and that he had two ๐๐๐ผ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐๐๐ธ๐ถ๐ฒ๐, which he claimed were healthy, fully vaccinated, and suitable as blood donors.
Because this was an emergency, the pet owner trusted him.
He then requested โฑ2,000 through GCash, allegedly for transportation/gas because he would be travelling from Carmen to Tagbilaran with the donor dogs.
The owner, who was already under tremendous emotional and financial pressure because of their petโs condition, sent the money.
But after hours of waiting, the supposed donor never arrived at our clinic.
Instead, the person sent another message saying that they had forgotten the dogsโ vaccination card and requested an additional โฑ350, allegedly so they could buy gas for their motorcycle, return home, get the vaccination card, and come back to the clinic.
At this point, we became highly suspicious.
Why was additional money continuously being requested when the supposed donor had not even arrived at the clinic?
We tried calling and messaging the person repeatedly.
There was no response.
The person eventually became unreachable.
We are sharing this because we want other pet owners, veterinary clinics, rescuers, and animal welfare groups to be aware that ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ฏ๐น๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ-๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐น๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐

๐ What makes this especially heartbreaking is that the victim in this situation is already struggling financially. Every peso matters. The money they sent was not money they could casually afford to loseโit was money acquired through hard work and sacrifice, given because they were desperately trying to save their beloved pet.

A sick pet is already heartbreaking enough. Taking advantage of an ownerโs desperation for money is cruel.
And to all pet owners:

Before sending money:
โข Ask for the donor dogโs complete details and current location.
โข Request legitimate vaccination/medical records.
โข Ask for recent photos/videos of the donor.
โข Verify the donorโs eligibility with the veterinary clinic.
โข Whenever possible, arrange for the donor and owner to come directly to the clinic first.
โข Do not send money simply because someone claims they need gasoline or transportation.
โข If someone keeps asking for additional money before showing up, consider it a major red flag.

We are posting this not to create unnecessary conflict, but to protect other pet owners from experiencing the same thing.
We are also documenting the messages and transaction and will be taking the appropriate steps regarding this incident.
