🧡 MORPH: Colorblast Albino 66% het Axanthic Western Hognose

🔬 SCIENTIFIC NAME: Heterodon nasicus

🏠 HABITAT:
native to North America, ranging from southern Canada, through the central United States, and into northern Mexico.
- Grasslands and prairies
- Sandy areas and semi-deserts
- Gravelly soils
- Scrublands
- Sandy floodplains near streams and ponds

📏 SIZE:
- Hatchlings: about 14–18 cm (5.5–7 inches)
- Average adult: around 50 cm (20 inches)
- Maximum: around 90 cm (35 inches)

🎨 APPEARANCE:
-small, stout-bodied snakes best known for their distinctive upturned snout

🍽️ DIET:
- Toads and frogs — their primary natural prey
- Lizards
- Reptile eggs
- Small mammals
- Occasionally, small birds

⏳ LIFESPAN:
- typically lives around 9–19 years in the wild and can live approximately 15–20 years in captivity with proper care.

🐍 FACT ATTACK!
⭐️ They have a built-in shovel! Their upturned snout helps them dig through loose soil while searching for prey.
⭐️ They're amazing actors. If their bluffing doesn't scare a predator away, they may flip onto their backs and pretend to be dead.
⭐️ They're specialized to eat toads. Hognoses have adaptations that allow them to handle toxins from their favorite amphibian prey.
⭐️ They're mostly active during the day, unlike many snakes that are primarily nocturnal.
⭐️ They don't usually bite when threatened. They tend to hiss, flatten their neck, bluff-strike, and eventually play dead instead.

🔬 SCIENTIFIC NAME: Pantherophis guttatus

🏠 HABITAT: native to the southeastern United States
-Wooded forests and groves
-Overgrown fields and grasslands
-Rocky hillsides and open rocky areas
-Meadows and forest edges
-Palmetto flatwoods
-Abandoned barns, farm buildings, and old houses
-Woodlots and tropical hammocks

📏 SIZE:
-Length: 61–182 cm (24–72 inches) or about 2–6 feet. Most adults are 3–5 feet (0.9–1.5 m) long.
-Weight: Usually 300–900 grams (0.7–2 pounds), depending on age, s*x, and diet.

🎨 APPEARANCE:
-Corn snakes are slender, medium-sized snakes with smooth, glossy scales and a distinctive color pattern that makes them easy to recognize.

🍽️ DIET:
-Mice and other small rodents
-Rats
-Lizards
-Frogs (especially young corn snakes)
-Small birds
-Bird eggs
-Bats

⏳ LIFESPAN:
-In the wild:
Typically 10–15 years, although many live shorter lives due to predators, disease, and environmental hazards.
-In captivity:
Usually 15–20 years, with many living over 20 years when provided with proper nutrition and husbandry. Some individuals have been recorded living 23 years or more.

🐍 FACT ATTACK‼️
⭐️ They didn't get their name because they eat corn. They were often found around corn cribs and cornfields, where they hunted the rodents attracted to stored grain.

⭐️ They are non-venomous constrictors. They subdue prey by wrapping around it before swallowing it whole.

⭐️ They come in hundreds of color morphs. Selective breeding has produced a wide variety of colors and patterns, including Snow, Amelanistic (Albino), Lavender, Tessera, and Motley.

Introducing our very own TRUFFLES, the stunning MEXICAN BLACK KINGSNAKE (MBK) 🖤🐍

🔬 SCIENTIFIC NAME: Lampropeltis californiae or formerly Lampropeltis getula nigrita

🏠 HABITAT:
- Rocky hillsides
- Semi-arid grasslands
- Desert scrub
- Areas with dense vegetation

⭐️ It is commonly found in the Sonoran Desert and northwestern Sinaloa, Mexico.

📏 SIZE:
- Average length: 90–120 cm (3–4 ft)
- Maximum length: Up to 1.5 m (5 ft) in captivity
- Weight: Up to about 1.3 kg (3 lb)

🎨 APPEARANCE:
Although called a black kingsnake, it is often a very dark chocolate brown with a beautiful blue or purple iridescent sheen when viewed in sunlight. Young snakes may have tiny white or yellow markings that usually fade as they mature.

🍽️ DIET:
- Mice and other small rodents
- Lizards
- Birds and eggs
- Other snakes including venomous rattlesnakes

☺️ TEMPERAMENT
- Non-venomous
- Generally calm and easy to handle
- Active during both day and night
- Popular among beginner and experienced reptile keepers, they adapt well to captivity

⏳ LIFESPAN:
-With proper care, they typically live 20–30 years, making them a long-term commitment for owners.

🐍 FACT ATTACK!
⭐️ Despite being harmless to humans, Mexican black kingsnakes are famous for eating other snakes, even venomous ones like rattlesnakes! Their natural resistance to certain snake venoms gives them an advantage when hunting these dangerous prey.
