Leyte Bleeding Heart ❤️

Distinct and mysterious, and deeply connected to the forests of Leyte, the ‘lost’ Leyte bleeding-heart bird has now been photographed.

Once thought of as a subspecies of the Mindanao bleeding-heart, this bird has its own story to tell through its unique plumage, call, size, and behavior.

Rare and long-considered elusive, the Leyte bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba crinigera leytensis) was photographed in the Leyte Sab-a Basin Peatland (LSBP) Hydrological Unit. This may be the first documented sighting of the subspecies on the island, with the photo serving as its first contemporary, publicly known evidence in more than a century.

REMINDERS FOR PET OWNERS

1. Pet Handling Requirement

All dogs must be kept on a secure leash or transported in a proper carrier at all times during the event.

2. Hygiene Measure

Dogs are required to wear diapers to maintain cleanliness and ensure the comfort of all attendees and their pets.

3. For Scheduled Castration Procedures

- Please ensure your pet fasts for 8 hours prior to the procedure (no food or water during this period).
​
- Bring all required materials as advised, along with a recovery mat such as a large towel or blanket.
