This picture is of Camberley Kate, who was well known in Camberley as the lady who would wander the streets with her “stray dogs” cart and gather up all the waifs and strays. It is said that during her life she rescued and gave a loving home to over 600 homeless dogs.
Today, I’m honouring this inspirational lady who devoted her life to saving dogs. And what a legacy she did leave behind, and to all the animals, we must be kind.

Being a breeder is not always rainbows and unicorns. It is heartbreaking when we get "that" phone call or text with news you wish you could change. It does not matter whether it is a puppy, adult dog or a senior dog...it hurts. It hurts our families and it hurts our hearts as breeders. So many people think breeding is easy and we make a lot of money. I am here to tell you that when done right, that is the furthest thing from the truth. There is so much more that goes into breeding behind the scenes. Many of us pour our heart and soul into hours of relentless stud dog searches, studying pedigrees, studying health and longevity, researching clearances as well as genetic issues, comparing notes with fellow breeders, staying up all night to watch puppies in those early weeks and praying all the while that our moms stay healthy through it all and even then, countless trips to the vet and things can still happen. As humans, we only have so much control and I have always said, Mother Nature holds the trump card. As I get ready for the Numbers and Peace litters to fly their nests, I know in my heart that I have done my very best to prepare them for their journey. I pray that each and every one has a long and healthy life and that they will bring much joy to their new families. There is nothing more rewarding than handing off that puppy to the family that has felt heartache or has waited so long and seeing the smiles that they bring with them. In ending, is breeding easy? No. Is it rewarding? Yes.
