CORNEAL ULCERS IN PETS

A corneal ulcer is a wound or scratch on the surface of your pet’s eye (cornea). It may look simple at first but it can quickly become serious if not treated properly.

Common Signs to Watch For:
• Squinting or keeping the eye closed
• Excessive tearing or discharge
• Redness of the eye
• Cloudy or bluish appearance
• Pawing or rubbing the eye

What Causes Corneal Ulcers?
• Trauma (scratches from other animals, plants, etc.)
• Foreign objects (dust, debris)
• Infections (bacterial or viral)
• Dry eye or underlying eye disease

Why It’s Serious:
Corneal ulcers are painful and can worsen fast. Without proper treatment, they may lead to:
• Deep infections
• Eye rupture
• Permanent blindness

❤️ Early treatment = better outcome!
If you notice any eye changes in your pet, don’t wait, have them checked immediately.
