SANTA ROSA, LAGUNA- Behind the loud cheers and laughter of Enchanted Kingdom lies the loudest cry in pain, dogs beaten to de@th when captured and brought to the Santa Rosa Dog Pound.
I will only name two barangays that really stand out, Barangay Malitlit and Barangay Dita, which make up San Lorenzo Subdivision.
Residents and animal feeders have raised serious concerns about how animals are being captured almost every day. They claim that stray animals and even owned pets wearing collars, with their owners nearby are being taken.
The reports are disturbing, cats allegedly being captured by the neck and thrown into cages, dogs allegedly being be@ten until lifeless and dragged or placed into sacks or cages, and possibly many more incidents that were never recorded.
Residents say that once dogs are captured, they never see them again. Some claim they were told the dogs were adopted or sent to shelters. But without proper records, public documentation, and transparency, how are residents supposed to know what actually happened to these animals?
Others say the animals are sent to the Santa Rosa Dog Pound.
The Santa Rosa Dog Pound has also been the subject of serious allegations from residents, including animals allegedly being deprived of adequate food and water and being given only a limited number of days to remain there.
Allegedly, dogs are be@ten until they are lifeless, with residents claiming they can hear the animals crying in pain.
There have also been allegations of dogs being sold right on the premises of the city pound. They are selling them to be sl@ughtered. One reporter claimed to have seen a dog being sl@ughtered right at the basketball court of Barangay Don Jose.
We understand the goal of public safety, cleanliness, and responsible animal control.
But there are humane ways to achieve those goals without treating innocent animals as disposable.
Capture-and-k!ll practices, , cru3lty, and unexplained disappearances cannot simply be dismissed as โanimal control.โ
This post is not about shaming anyone. It is about exposing what needs to be URGENTLY INVESTIGATED.
To the residents who have witnessed these incidents: do not stay silent.
Document what you can. Take photos and videos when safe and lawful. Record dates, locations, names, impound details, and what happens to the dogs. Ask for records. Demand answers. Report suspected violations through the proper authorities and animal-welfare organizations.
Santa Rosa may be a place known for fun and entertainment.
But if innocent animals are suffering behind those walls and nobody is willing to ask questions, then the silence is part of the problem!
