Snake 101 (Shedding)
Snakes shed their skin—a process called ecdysis—mainly to accommodate physical growth, as their rigid outer layer made of keratin does not expand with them. This shedding process also clears away external parasites, repairs surface injuries, and replaces worn-out or damaged outer skin.
Reasons for Shedding
-Growth: Young snakes grow fast and shed often. Older snakes grow slow and shed less.
-Cleanliness: Shedding removes pests like mites and ticks.
-Repair: It fixes scratches and bad spots on the body.

-Eyes turn blue: Fluid builds up and makes the eyes look cloudy or blue.
