At ๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ, Yensei was brought to our clinic recumbent, seemingly in pain, with vaginal discharge, weakness, and lameness already being observed. She had only whelped once and was still intact.
An ultrasound revealed that her uterus was filled with fluid, leading to a diagnosis of ๐ฝ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ฎโa serious and potentially life-threatening uterine infection.
An ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ was performed. During surgery, we discovered that the pus had already leaked into her abdominal cavity. This is a very serious complication that can lead to ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐ if left untreated or if treatment is delayed.
Thankfully, Yensei received immediate surgical intervention and intensive care. After several days of confinement, we were so happy to see her regain her very good appetite and strength.
And when we say her strength is backโฆ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐! From being recumbent, weak, and in pain to being feisty and ready to defend herself againโ๐๐ฒโ๐น๐น ๐ด๐น๐ฎ๐ฑ๐น๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐น๐ถ๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒโ๐ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ! ๐
Today, Yensei was finally ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ to continue her recovery with her loving furparent.
๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐. Pyometra can become life-threatening, especially when the infection progresses and the uterus ruptures. If your unspayed female dog shows vaginal discharge, loss of appetite, weakness, abdominal discomfort, or unusual behavior, have her checked by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
