❗️RABIES AWARENESS MONTH ❗️

A gentle reminder to all fur parents: Rabies has NO cure — but it is 100% preventable.

There are 2 main forms of rabies in dogs and cats:

🔴 Furious Form (common)
Early signs: loss of appetite, excessive barking, drooling, uncoordinated movement.
Late signs: aggression, extreme agitation, biting, barking at inanimate objects.

⚫ Paralytic/Dumb Form (less common)
Drooping jaw, foaming at the mouth, hanging tongue, weakness, progressive paralysis.

Recently, a senior dog was brought in after being mauled by a suspected rabid stray. Deep bite wounds to the head and neck. Soon after, signs appeared — lethargy, paralysis, foaming mouth, inability to eat or drink.

Once clinical signs show, rabies is almost 100% fatal.
With no available cure, euthanasia was chosen to prevent suffering and transmission.

📢 PUBLIC ADVISORY ‼️‼️

To fellow veterinary clinics, pet shops, and non-animal-related establishments:

Please exercise caution in extending credit or borrowing privileges to the following individual:

Name: Gladstone Balucos
Address: New Maug, La Presa, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur

On November 16, the above-named individual presented his dog to our clinic for dystocia. He was fully informed of the medical condition, treatment plan, risks, and estimated costs, and provided written consent. The dog underwent an emergency cesarean section and was successfully treated.

Despite this, the owner failed to settle his financial obligations, left the animal under our care, and has not returned nor communicated with the clinic since November 27, resulting in unpaid and accumulating charges.

Please note that our clinic is not an animal shelter. While our priority is patient care, we must also manage operational costs and staff welfare.

Due to the circumstances and apparent abandonment, the dog “Wawa” will be made available for adoption, in accordance with applicable policies.

For those interested in adopting, please contact us directly.
