School opening day feels a little brighter when every child has the tools they need to learn. 📚✏️

Today, we had the opportunity to donate school supplies to the kindergarten and elementary students of Mariano Baron School. While notebooks, pencils, and crayons may seem simple, they can make a meaningful difference in a child’s confidence, motivation, and excitement for learning.

Every backpack filled, every pencil shared, and every act of kindness is an investment in a child’s future. Together, we can help ensure that no student starts the school year feeling left behind.

Education opens doors, and sometimes, it begins with something as simple as a pencil in a child’s hand. ❤️

I would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the teachers who made this possible, salamat po maam! 🫶🏼

Yesterday, one of my patients passed away surrounded by the love and care of Cochon’s family.

Cholo, a female dog, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC) through cystoscopy and biopsy in December 2024. Knowing the type of cancer she had—and that even radiotherapy would likely offer limited benefit—we chose management and quality-of-life care. A palliative approach that lasted an entire year. A year filled with happy memories, comfort, and the unconditional love of her family.

What if we had chosen not to pursue chemotherapy or further cancer treatment?

I always say that the best decisions written in textbooks are not always the best decisions for every pet. Choosing a path that helps extend life without sacrificing its quality is often the greatest gift we can give to our patients.

I always present families with options, and whatever they choose, I know one thing for certain: the decision made out of love is often the best and most compassionate choice they can make for their pet.

In Cholo’s case, it wasn’t chemotherapy that can extended her life until yesterday. It was the LOVE of her parents, the care they provided every day, and the choice to let her truly live until her very last breath.

Thank you, Cholo, for your life, your strength, and the lessons you left behind.

Run free, our goodest Girl! 🫶🏼

The last April of Summer

Last week, we said goodbye to our dear senior patient, Summer.

Summer was more than just a dog—she was family. A beloved member of the Salazar family, she had been bravely fighting terminal c🦀ncer since last year. Despite all the love, prayers, and care surrounding her, her age and other medical conditions made the battle one she could no longer overcome.

But in moments like these, we are reminded of something deeply important: The time given after a diagnosis is often the greatest gift we can offer.

And Summer received that gift fully.

Through it all, her family never gave up on her. They chose love every single day—giving her comfort, dignity, and joy. She ate the food she loved, rested in the warmth of her home, and was surrounded by the people who cherished her most. Her life, even in its final chapter, was beautiful.

She was never “just a dog.” She was a child, a companion, and a piece of their hearts.

And when she finally crossed the rainbow bridge, something unforgettable happened—every dog in the house began to howl, as if they, too, felt the loss of a beloved family member.

Thank you, Summer, for the wonderful years, for your quiet strength, and for the love you shared so freely.

Run free, sweet girl. You will always be remembered, always be loved. 🐾🤍

They say oncology is a dead end—
that there is no life after cancer.

But here he is.

A senior 14 years old patient, almost 3 years after surgery and chemo treatment. Not confined. Not diminished. Never a “vegetable.” Still present. Still living. Still loved.

We were never forced to choose between life and comfort, because we believed something deeper:
that beyond the fear, beyond the risks of procedures,
there could still be years—real years—filled with moments that matter.

To our patient.
To every pet facing cancer.
There is hope.
There is life after treatment.

And even when comfort becomes the only path left to take,
remember this:

Love did not begin with cancer.
Love was already there—
and it never leaves. 🐾💙

He lived 15 beautiful years, surrounded by the love of the Vergara family. Every day of his life mattered.
Every moment was love.

Paalam, mahal naming Joan. Hindi ka kailanman makakalimutan. 🤍🐾
