Pyometra (pus-filled uterus) is a bacterial infection of the uterus due to hormonal changes in unspayed dogs. If left untreated, it may lead to death.
Open pyometra symptoms usually include vaginal discharges (dark red/brownish or pus), lethargy, and vomiting. Closed pyometra symptoms usually include pain and discomfort, a distended abdomen, vomiting, and lethargy.
This is Kelsey, 45kg, a 5-year-old Labrador.
Emergency surgery was conducted after ultrasound results showed a pus-filled, coiled uterus & CBC showed bacterial infection, anemia and low platelets.
Kelsey is now okay and energetic. Kudos to her fur parents for giving their best support to Kelsey.
Thank you for trusting us.
Good girl, Kelsey ๐ถ
