IN LOVING MEMORY OF DOUGLAS RAY BRUCE 🕊
Today, we remember Douglas Bruce, a respected American gamefowl breeder, conditioner, educator, and longtime student of the craft.
For decades, Douglas dedicated his life to studying, raising, breeding, conditioning, and caring for gamefowl, sharing the knowledge he gained through years of hands-on experience. His expertise eventually became the foundation of TopSpur Academy, where he continued teaching breeding, conditioning, nutrition, health care, farm management, and gamefowl history.
A LEGACY BUILT THROUGH EXPERIENCE
🇺🇸 Team Ratliff — USA
Douglas Bruce became a student and later a partner of the legendary Mike Ratliff, alongside Lorenzo Estrada. Their partnership connected Douglas to one of the most experienced breeding traditions in American gamefowl.
🇵🇭 2015 — Philippine Gamefowl Media
During the same Philippine visit, Douglas and Team Ratliff were guests on Radyo Bulang and Sabong Radyo, sharing their experience with the local gamefowl community.
🌎 TopSpur — International
Douglas went on to build TopSpur into an educational platform dedicated to preserving and sharing decades of gamefowl knowledge. His work covered conditioning, breeding, nutrition, health, farm management, and the history of the breed.
🎙 TopSpur Podcast — Philippines & Worldwide
Through the Top Spur Audio Podcast, Douglas and Big Mike Fisher brought conversations about the gamefowl industry to audiences in the Philippines and around the world, featuring breeders, professionals, and industry personalities.
His legacy is not measured only by the birds he raised, but by the knowledge he gained, practiced, and passed on to generations of gamefowl enthusiasts.
Douglas Bruce will be remembered as a true chicken man, a dedicated breeder and conditioner, and an educator who devoted decades to the craft he loved.
