The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA), through its Council on Biologics and Therapeutics, convened the Veterinary Antimicrobial Therapeutic Guidelines (VATG) Technical Working Group Meeting on June 5, 2026, at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.

Led by Dr. Edna Zenaida Villacorte, Chair of the VATG Technical Working Group, together with the Council on Biologics and Therapeutics headed by Chairman Dr. Warly Mingrajal and members Dr. Rowena Marquez and Dr. Geoff Carullo, the meeting focused on the continued development of Book 2 of the Veterinary Antimicrobial Therapeutic Guidelines.

Building on the successful completion of Book 1, which identified and prioritized antimicrobials per species, Book 2 will provide practical therapeutic guidance for veterinarians in both clinical practice and academia. The publication aims to promote responsible, evidence-based antimicrobial use, strengthen antimicrobial stewardship, and contribute to the collective effort against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Composed of presidents and representatives from the different PVMA collegial bodies, the Technical Working Group is working toward completing Book 2 in time for the 94th PVMA Scientific Conference and Annual Convention.

Together, we continue advancing veterinary medicine through science, collaboration, and responsible antimicrobial use.

PVMA supports Veterinary Medical Mission, Spay & Neuter, and Farmers' Education Program in Pangasinan

In partnership with the Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG), ABONO Party List, and the Bureau of Animal Industry, the PVMA proudly extended its support to the Veterinary Medical Mission and Farmers’ Education Program held on May 26–27 across three municipalities in Pangasinan.

Veterinarians from various organizations, including the Philippine Animal Hospital Association, Philippine Veterinary Drug and Nutrition Association, Philippine Veterinary Drug Foundation Association, and Vets Love Nature, joined forces in conducting Farmers’ Education Seminars alongside spay and neuter initiatives for the local communities.

Hundreds of farmers from different communities also took part in the seminar on poultry, swine, and ruminant production and health management in Rosales, Pangasinan. The sessions were led by seasoned veterinarians and industry practitioners who shared valuable insights, practical techniques, and updated knowledge aimed at helping farmers improve animal health, productivity, and overall farm sustainability.

The PVMA extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the veterinarians and support staff who answered the call to serve our communities through this meaningful initiative. Your dedication and compassion continue to make a lasting impact on both animal welfare and the livelihood of our farmers.
