β€œOur pets fight some battles silently.” 🐱

One of those battles can be pyometraβ€”a serious infection of the uterus in unspayed female cats.

The scary part? Closed pyometra may have NO vaginal discharge.

Because the cervix is closed, the infection and pus stay trapped inside the uterus. Your cat may simply seem β€œoff” at first:

β€’ Hindi kumakain
β€’ Matamlay or unusually quiet
β€’ Mas uhaw at mas madalas umihi
β€’ Nagsusuka or nagtatae
β€’ Lumalaki o sumasakit ang tiyan
β€’ May lagnatβ€”or sometimes, bumababa ang body temperature

With open pyometra, pus or foul-smelling discharge may be seen coming from the v***a. But no discharge doesn't mean there's no pyometra.

If left untreated, the infection can become life-threatening. The uterus can rupture, causing severe infection in the abdomen, sepsis, and even death.

So if your unspayed female cat suddenly isn't acting like herself, don't wait for discharge before having her checked.

Some battles are silent. We just have to learn how to notice the signs. 🐾

Patient Update: Garfield is officially back on his throne! πŸ§‘πŸ‘‘

When Garfield arrived at our clinic, he was having severe difficulty passing urine. Diagnostic testing revealed that crystal formation in his bladder had caused a complete, life-threatening urinary blockage.

Our team acted quickly: Garfield underwent a catheterization procedure to carefully clear out the obstruction and restore normal function. Because urinary blockages require close monitoring, he was confined in our hospital for 5 days of intensive fluid therapy, supportive care, and recovery tracking.

We are thrilled to share that Garfield has been discharged! He is now resting comfortably at home, enjoying a healthy, steady urine flow, and taking his home medications like a true champ.

⚠️ A Quick Reminder for Cat Parents: Urinary blockages are absolute medical emergencies. If you notice your cat straining in the litter box, crying out in pain, or over-grooming their ge***al area, please contact a veterinarian immediately. Early intervention saves lives!

Welcome home, Garfield! Thank you to his wonderful family for trusting us with his care. 🐾✨
