Aural Hematoma

An aural hematoma is a collection of blood, either fresh or clotted, within the pinna (ear flap).

It often happens when a dog scratches or shakes its head vigorously, especially if they have ear infections, allergies, or ear mites. The blood collects and causes a swelling or bulging in the ear.

If left untreated, aural hematomas can lead to permanent changes in the ear shape, scarring, or recurrent fluid buildup.

If you observe any symptoms of an aural hematoma, it's important to consult your veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment.
