Bearded Dragon Shedding
Shedding is a normal natural process where a bearded dragon replaces old skin with new skin as it grows. Young dragons usually shed more frequently because they grow faster, while adults generally shed less often.
Common signs of shedding:
π€ Skin becomes dull, pale, gray, or whitish
π Skin may look loose or slightly wrinkled
ποΈ The head and face may become lighter first
πͺ΅ The dragon may rub against rocks, branches, or enclosure surfaces
π΄ Some dragons become less active or have reduced appetite temporarily
β¨ After shedding, the new skin often appears brighter and more vibrant
Important care
Allow the dragon to shed naturally. Don't pull or peel attached skin, especially around the toes, tail tip, and eyes, because forced removal can cause injury.
A suitable enclosure with proper UVB, temperature, hydration, and nutrition supports healthy skin and normal shedding.
