• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) — Graduated B.V.Sc. (Hons) from Sydney University in Australia (1976). 
• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Agronomy & Nutrition) — B.Sc.Agr. from Sydney University (1966). 
• Diploma in Education — Dip. Ed. from The University of New England, Armidale, Australia (studied education and philosophy of science). 

These degrees qualify him as a veterinary surgeon, agricultural scientist, and nutritionist.
