Bokju was initially diagnosed from another clinic as pregnant and about to give birth. But after being thoroughly examined by Doc Jess, the real cause of her condition was discovered: Blood Parasites and Pyometra.

This case reminds us that symptoms can sometimes be misleading. A thorough veterinary examination and the right diagnostic tests are important to uncover what’s truly happening with our pets.

Meet Carla, our Golden Retriever patient who came to us at exactly 7:00 PM—just in time to become our evening “buzzer-beater” case. 🐶⏰

Before coming to the Pawprint Veterinary Clinic, Carla had already been seen at another veterinary facility in QC. She had undergone a CBC and Leptospira test, which was reportedly negative.

But when Carla arrived at our clinic, we noticed something concerning. She appeared yellowish, and based on what we were seeing clinically, we felt that further investigation was necessary.

Doc Jess decided not to rely solely on the previous results. We repeated her CBC and blood chemistry and performed another Leptospira test to get a clearer picture of her current condition.

And that’s when the results told a different story.

Our repeat diagnostics showed findings concerning for kidney and liver involvement, while Carla’s repeat Leptospira test came back POSITIVE—despite the earlier test being reported negative.

This is an important reminder from our team: laboratory results should always be interpreted together with the patient’s clinical signs, history, physical examination, and other diagnostic findings. Thank God to Doc Jess' concern and quick thinking.

Sometimes, when the results don't match what we see in the patient, repeating a test and doing additional diagnostics can make a significant difference in understanding what may be happening.

For now, our focus is Carla. 🐾

We will continue with close monitoring, further diagnostics as needed, and appropriate treatment based on her condition.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR DOC JESS 🐾❤️💙

Being a veterinarian means no two days are ever exactly the same. Some days are calm, some are nonstop—but every day is filled with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to our fur babies. 🐶🐱

There are days when 3 cats were spayed and 1 dog, and in between surgeries, Doc Jess is also attending to consultations, check-ups, emergencies, diagnostics, treatments, and everything else our patients need.

From the operating table to the consultation room, every patient gets the same care, patience, and attention.

It can be a long day. It can be exhausting. But seeing our patients recover, wag their tails, purr again, and go home healthier makes every moment worth it.

Hardworking. Compassionate. Very Driven.

🔵 Healthy & Relaxed: Bright, open eyes, relaxed ears, soft facial muscles, and a comfortable expression.

🔴 May Be in Pain: Squinting, ears pulled back, tight facial muscles, tense lips, or a worried expression.

Remember, early recognition can make a difference! If you notice unusual behavior or signs of discomfort, don’t wait. Have your furbaby checked by Doc Jess the soonest possible time. 🩺🐕
