Pia, the tilapia cat in front of the library, gave birth today to 7 healthy kittens today. One kitten unfortunately did not survive and has been buried, but Pia and her remaining kittens are currently stable and doing well.
At this time, we will not be relocating Pia and her kittens. Moving a mother cat too soon after giving birth can cause extreme stress and may lead to rejection or accidental harm to the kittens. For their safety and survival, it is best to keep them in a quiet, familiar environment while Pia continues nursing and caring for them.
We kindly ask everyone to give them space and avoid disturbing the area as much as possible.
That said, we are already preparing for their next steps. If you are interested in:
๐ฑ Fostering both Pia and her kittens; and
๐ฑ Adopting her or her kittens the future
to please feel free to message our page so we can coordinate accordingly.
Thank you for reporting to us and helping us keep Pia and her babies safe ๐ค
We would also like to thank our volunteers, Ethan, AC, and Kate, as well as the Library Staff, for their swift response despite being busy today for intramurals.
