🐶Musings about puppies and breeders🐶
I've been thinking a lot about breeding lately.
Two puppies from one of my breeding came back for training.
Three days in, they're already about halfway through the program. At this rate, what normally takes 4–6 weeks could realistically be finished in about a week.
Another sibling from the same litter is training as a detection dog. Last i've heard, he has already advanced into the adult program at just five months old.
Experiences like these reinforce something I've believed for a long time, genetics matter.
Training matters. Socialization matters. The owner matters. But good breeding gives every puppy a stronger starting point.
If you're looking for a dog, don't just shop for a pedigree or a price tag.
Look for health testing, stable temperaments, proven parents, and a breeder whose previous dogs consistently become great companions or excel at their jobs.
And here's the interesting part, some of these puppies sold for a fraction of what people pay for garbage from well-known 'breeders'.
The goal isn't to produce puppies. It's to produce dogs that exceed expectations and make their owners' lives better.
That's what purpose breeding is all about.
