What is Pyometra?
--Pyometra is a serious, life threatening infection in the uterus that fills with bacteria and pus. It is a secondary infection caused by hormonal changes in a female's reproductive tract.

Who is at Risk?
--Unspayed, middle aged, and older female dogs are at the highest risk of this infection.

Clinical Signs
--Vaginal discharge, fever, decreased appetite, lethargy, increased thirst and urination, enlarged abdomen and vomiting.

Prevention
--The best way to prevent this infection is by having your female dog spayed.
