The Ten Commandments of Dog Ownership

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very hard and painful for me. Remember that before you adopt me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Please be patient with me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well being.
4. Do not be angry with me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you!
5. Talk to me, even if I do not understand your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me. You only have to look at my tail!
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it!
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you. (DON'T HIT YOUR DOG!)
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I am in pain or sick, or my heart might be getting weak and I cannot tell you.
9. Take care of me when I get old, you too will grow old someday.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, “I can’t bear to watch it” or, “let it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there.

Pickwickian syndrome, clinically known as obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS), is a chronic breathing condition that develops due to obesity and causes long-term changes to the body. It occurs when your blood doesn’t have enough oxygen (O2) and has too much carbon dioxide (CO2) and can lead to serious breathing problems.

When pets are overweight, fat often is deposited around the rib cage, restricting the movement of the chest wall during breathing. It’s like wearing a corset 24/7. It’s hard to take a deep breath, sleep comfortably, or move around. Over time, this decreased ability to breathe leads to hypoxia due to hypoventilation, which puts a strain on the heart, and ultimately can lead to life-threatening conditions.

Complications of OHS can include:
* pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure
* edema, or fluid buildup in limbs
* secondary erythrocytosis and polycythemia due to hypoxemia

Patients with OHS have a blunted central respiratory drive to both hypercapnia and hypoxia. This means that administration of high-concentration supplemental oxygen to these patients may induce worse hypoventilation and worsen the hypercapnea and hence hyoxemia even further.

You should administer the lowest concentration of oxygen to patients with OHS to avoid worsening of hypercapnia while still improving oxygenation, especially in patients with OHS that are in a crisis or recovering from anesthesia.

In people, CPAP machines are extremely helpful to improve ventilation, in pets unfortunately these are not readily available or practical. Dietary changes and a weight loss plan should be initiated as soon as possible.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects humans and animals. It is caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. Both in human and animals, can cause a wide range of symptoms, some of which may be mistaken for other diseases. Some infected patients, however, may have no symptoms.

Without treatment, Leptospirosis can lead to kidney damage, meningitis (inflammation of the membrane around the brain and spinal cord), liver failure, respiratory distress, and even death.

Please be very careful everytime you walk your pets or even inside our homes for they may contract this kind of infections specially during this rainy sea*on..

CANINE CORONA VIRUS

CANINE Corona Virus is NOT the same virus as SARS-COV-2 that causes the Novel corona Virus (COVID-19)

Ccov causes gastrointestinal problem in dogs and does not affect people.

Most cases of Ccov is contracted by oral contact with infected f***l matter, contaminated food bowls and cages.
Crowding and unsanitary conditions favors transmission.

This Canine corona Virus has no specific treatment... Although early medical intervention may help a successful treatment.

Naitala sa bayan ng General Mariano Alvarez ang kauna-unahang pagkamatay ng isang bata bunsod ng rabies ng a*o, ayon sa lokal na pamahalaan nito.

Sa pabatid ni Mayor Maricel Echevarria Torres, hindi niya pinangalanan ang biktima ngunit ibinahagi niya na ngayong buwan lamang naganap ang insidente.

Dahil dito ay nagpaalala siya sa publiko na mag-ingat at pabakunahan ang mga alagang a*o para na rin sa kaligtasan ng lahat.

“Pinag-iingat ng pamahalaang bayan ang mga residente at hinihikayat na pabakunahan ang mga alagang a*o at pusa sa isinasagawang malawakang Anti-rabies Vaccination na pumupunta sa bawat barangay,” ani Torres.

GIARDIA
** Falling leaf like movement

GIARDIASIS is an intestinal infection in humans and animals caused by a single celled protozoan parasite.

This disease can be transmitted by eating or
sniffing the cysts from contaminated ground,
or by drinking contaminated water.

GIARDIA infection in dogs may lead to weight loss, chronic intermittent diarrhea, fatty stool and may cause death to puppies and debilitated adult dogs if left untreated. Vomiting may occur in some cases.

If you observed recurring diarrhea in your dog's and cats, please consult your veterinarian for proper guidance and right treatment.

GIARDIA
**Falling leaf like movement...

Giardiasis is an intestinal infection in humans and animals caused by a microscopic protozoan parasite.

Giardiasis can be transmitted by eating or sniffing the cyst from contaminated ground or by drinking contaminated water.

The disease may cause severe watery diarrhea that may cause death if left untreated. Infected dogs tend to have excess mucus in f***s. Vomiting may occur in some cases. The signs may persist for several weeks and gradual weight loss may become apparent.

If your dog's and cats have chronic intermittent diarrhea please consult your veterinarian for proper guidance and treatment.

Patient (male puppy (+/-) 5months mixed breed and free range, no history of vaccination and deworming) came in today observed with bloody diarrhea, inappetence and vomiting for 3 days already.
Patient tested negative with CPV and/or CCV however, f***lysis shows that the patient is severely infested with Whipworms and Hookworms.

Trichuris triciura commonly known as Whipworms, causes most disease among all the intestinal parasite infecting dogs. Whipworm infestations result in watery bloody diarrhea, weight loss and debilitation.

Ancylostoma Caninum or Hookworms feeds on blood which may cause acute anemia to it's host or patient.

Prevent this worse scenarios by giving your pets the right medicine and dose..
