One question we sometimes hear is: “Why adopt when they’re already safe in the facility?”
And it’s true. The cats under our care are fed, sheltered, and looked after by people who love them.
But safety is only part of what they deserve.
What many of them are still missing is a family of their own.
In a facility, even with the best care possible, attention must be shared among many animals. There are never enough hours in the day for every cat to receive the one-on-one affection, playtime, and companionship they deserve. There are always more cats waiting for a lap to sit on, a hand to pet them, or a quiet home where they can finally relax.
Some have spent months waiting. Others have spent years.
As more animals arrive needing help, space becomes limited. Every adoption not only changes the life of the cat going home, but also opens up room and resources for another animal in need.
A facility can keep a cat safe, healthy, and loved. But it can never fully replace the feeling of having a person to call their own. A windowsill that’s theirs. A favorite spot on the bed. A family that celebrates their birthdays, worries when they’re sick, and cherishes them for the rest of their lives.
They’re no longer fighting to survive.
But they’re still waiting to truly belong.
Waiting for someone to choose them. Waiting for a place to call home. Waiting for the day they no longer have to watch other cats leave while they stay behind.
They’re safe.
But they’re waiting. ❤️
