Well, we’re one of those people.
We bring our dog with us whenever we go, as long as the place allows pets. And honestly, sometimes it’s a hassle. We have to prepare his things, make sure he’s comfortable, watch him closely, and adjust our plans around him.
But there’s a reason why we choose to do it.
Our dog is very anxious. He’s scared of loud noises, especially thunder. Whenever he gets scared or panicked, he shakes badly. He also has urinary problems caused by crystals, and whenever he gets extremely stressed, there have been times when there’s blood in his p*e.
So for us, bringing him along isn’t simply because we want our dog to accompany us everywhere. Sometimes, it’s because we know he needs us.
When he’s scared, we want to be there to comfort him. When he’s anxious, we want him to know that he’s not alone.
We don’t usually bring him to parks because, here in our country, many parks can be unsafe, pet-friendly options are limited, and the heat can be dangerous for dogs. So, we choose places where he can stay with us comfortably and safely.
We know that not everyone understands this. And that’s okay.
But I hope we can also remember that our pets are living beings. They have feelings too. They get scared. They get anxious. They get lonely. They look for comfort and security from the people they consider their family.
And sometimes, we have to ask ourselves: If we know our pets are happier and feel safer when they’re with us, why would we leave them behind just because bringing them along is inconvenient?
Of course, being a responsible fur parent goes both ways.
Pet-friendly doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want. We still have to respect the rules of the mall and the people around us. We need to make sure our pets are properly secured, clean up after them, and be especially mindful in sensitive areas, particularly restaurants and places where people are eating.
At the end of the day, we’re not saying everyone has to bring their dogs everywhere.
We’re simply saying that sometimes, there’s a story behind why people do.
For us, he isn’t just a dog we bring along because we can.
He’s family.
They spend their entire lives loving us, waiting for us, and being there for us without asking for much in return.
So when they need us, maybe we can choose to be there for them too.
Because one day, we’ll realize that all those little inconveniences we went through for them were never really inconveniences at all.
They were moments we were lucky enough to have with someone we loved. 🤍🐾
