⚠️ According to Manila Health Department, as of August 27, 2026, the human cases of Leptospirosis in Metro Manila already reached 401 ⚠️
With the recent flooding, exposure to contaminated floodwater and soil increases the risk of leptospirosis in both people and pets.
Leptospirosis is caused by Leptospira bacteria that enters the body through the eyes, nose, mouth, or cuts and wounds on the skin. Our pets can become infected through exposure to contaminated water, soil, or urine from infected animals.
Leptospirosis is known to be a silent killer as it perfectly mimics common diseases like flu and by the time severe signs appear, our pet may already be in acute kidney or liver failure.
🔍Watch out for any of these signs:
✅ Inappetence and increased drinking
✅ High Fever
✅ Vomiting and/or diarrhea
✅ Lethargy
✅ Jaundice
✅ Blood in urine (Hematuria)
✅ Black discoloration of the tongue
✅ Severe pain
