“Makakaapekto ba ang 8th primary feather sa 300km race?”

Last Sunday, si OneNine, isa sa mga YB hen natin, bumalik mula Tuguegarao Lap (318.7 km) pero may isang malaking nawala na ang 8th primary feather niya.

Ang 6th to 10th flight feathers ang nagbibigay ng:
• ✈️ Thrust & lift
• 💨 Speed at stamina
• 🌀 Control in wind & distance

Yung 8th feather, isa sa pinakakritikal.
Kapag nawala bago ang lap, ang epekto?

• Mas mahinang hampas ng pakpak
• Mas madaling mapagod
• Mas hirap sa ulan o hangin lalo sa mahahabang biyahe

The Final Battle.
The Ultimate Test.

Today, I basket “88” for Basco, Batanes—the hardest race in the Philippines.
Over 620 km of sea and land.
A route few dare to fly.
A route even fewer complete.

A loft built on grit, faith, and an undying love for the sport.

We don’t just race birds—we race stories.
We raise warriors.
Every bird that comes home, every clocker, every survivor carries not just my name—but a story worth telling.

And it all started with one bird.
KAIZEN.
Out of 38 brave souls sent to a brutal South Race…
Only 2 birds came home.
Kaizen, my first-ever winner.
And 98, his full sibling, the only other finisher.

Their blood built this loft.
Their wings carry my dreams.
Their story is my legacy.

Meet Kaizen – A True Survivor of the South! 🏆🐦

Kaizen is one of our toughest racers, a survivor of the MMFC 2022 Tiwi Albay Massacre—one of the hardest races in recent history. Out of 2,900+ birds, less than 300 managed to clock, and Kaizen was one of them.

She didn’t just survive—she showed her class in the following laps. She clocked Matnog and Calbayog with a 1,000+ mpm speed, proving she gets faster as the distance increases. Meanwhile, her niece also made her mark, clocking on the Tiwi Lap of the same race.

In that brutal South race, only 19 pigeons completed clocking, making Kaizen’s achievement even more remarkable. She’s the type of bird that keeps pushing forward when others fall behind—a trait that sets real champions apart.

Panginoon, itinataas namin sa Iyo ang aming mga alagang kalapati na nasa himpapawid ngayon. Sa gitna ng ulan, hangin, at pagsubok, gabayan N’yo po sila pauwi. Bigyan sila ng lakas, liwanag, at direksyon upang matagpuan ang tamang daan pabalik sa kanilang mga loft. Amen. 🙏🕊️

To those expecting birds today, brace for a tough race. The current weather over Quezon, Bicol, Legazpi, and Sorsogon is rainy, with moderate to heavy downpours in several areas. This means pigeons are likely facing low visibility, strong headwinds, and wet conditions—all of which can slow them down significantly.

What This Means for Your Birds:

🌀 Delayed Arrivals – Expect slower clocking times as birds navigate through rain and unstable air currents.
🌧️ Scattered Returns – Some pigeons may take longer routes to avoid heavy rainfall, leading to staggered arrivals throughout the day and possibly into tomorrow.
💨 Increased Fatigue – Constant battling against wind and rain will drain their energy faster than usual, so some may take stops before continuing home.

What to Do While Waiting:

✔️ Stay alert for early arrivals – If there’s a break in the rain, some pigeons might push through and clock earlier than expected.
✔️ Keep the loft visible – Strong winds and rain can disorient birds; make sure they can easily recognize their home upon approach.
✔️ Prepare for recovery – Once your birds arrive, give them warm water, electrolytes, and a high-energy feed to help them bounce back.
