Your dog’s eyes are getting cloudy. What does it actually mean? 👁️🐾

It’s easy to assume cataracts—but cloudy-looking eyes can also be caused by nuclear sclerosis, a common age-related change in dogs.

They may look similar, but they’re not the same.

Cataracts can interfere with vision, while nuclear sclerosis generally does not significantly affect a dog’s overall vision. And from appearance alone, it may be difficult for pet owners to tell the difference.

So if you’ve noticed your dog’s eyes becoming cloudy, bluish, or simply looking different, don’t rely on appearance alone.

An eye examination can help determine what’s happening and whether your dog’s vision is being affected.

Veterinary care can look very different depending on what your pet needs.

Sometimes, it’s a routine check-up, vaccination, or preventive care. Sometimes, we need to look deeper through laboratory testing, X-rays, ultrasound, or CT scan. And sometimes, a pet needs specialized treatment, hospitalization, critical care, or emergency support.

Please be guided by today’s service update before visiting our Quezon City branch.

Emergency Care Services at The FURR Quezon City will not be available tonight, September 20, 2026. Regular clinic operations will resume tomorrow, September 21, at 10:00 AM.

For urgent and emergency cases, 24/7 ER services remain available at The FURR Makati City.

We encourage pet owners to plan their visit accordingly and contact us first if they need assistance or have any concerns regarding their pet’s care.
