I don’t usually take the eggs out for another candling during the 55-day incubation period, but I was really anxious about this clutch. 😅 I just had to double-check if the veins were getting stronger and if the embryos inside were developing properly. These were laid 10 days ago, and during the initial inspection, the veins didn’t look as strong compared to the eggs from my other clutches, so I decided to give them another check.

Ball Pythons really breed on their own terms. 😅 Sometimes you can get more than 5 locks and end up with no eggs, while other times a single successful lock is enough for them to ovulate and lay.

That was the case for this female. I only paired her once, originally hoping it would help stimulate her appetite. However, she stopped eating early, so I decided not to continue pairing her. To my surprise, she still went on to ovulate, and we eventually caught her laying 5 huge eggs. ☺️🙏🏽

Now the focus shifts to making sure she regains the weight she lost and recovers well after laying. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Resilience is not something we should take advantage of. Just because reptiles are easier to maintain than dogs and cats does not mean they can tolerate neglect.

Really glad I was able to step in and take her back. Seeing her zest for life slowly return has been reassuring, especially considering how bleak the situation looked before.

Still a long way to go, but I’m happy she’s finally catching up little by little. 🥹🙏🏽
