Meet Milo, a Boston Terrier who had been coughing and vomiting for less than a week before being brought to our clinic.

Cases like Milo’s remind us why diagnostic tools such as radiography (X-rays) are so important. Many diseases and conditions can present with similar symptoms, making it difficult to determine the exact cause through physical examination alone.

Initially, Milo’s condition was suspected to be a simple case of tracheobronchitis. However, his X-rays revealed a foreign object lodged in his throat—the actual cause of his symptoms.

Fortunately, our clinic’s X-ray facility allowed us to quickly identify the problem and formulate the most appropriate treatment plan for Milo. Early and accurate diagnosis can make a significant difference in a patient’s recovery.

From multiple episodes of seizures to stabilization and recovery, Yesha has fought hard for her life.

Status epilepticus is defined as continuous seizures lasting more than five minutes, or repeated seizure episodes without regaining consciousness in between. It is a medical emergency — a life-threatening condition that placed Yesha in a state where stabilization and recovery were never guaranteed.

This condition can be caused by many factors. It may result from infections, metabolic disorders, organ failure, brain injury, tumors and many others. Oftentimes, many people associate it with canine distemper viral infection because of the high number of cases seen, making it one of the more commonly recognized causes. Fortunately, that was not the case for Yesha, which allowed us to admit her and provide the necessary treatment and management.

Yesha has been through a lot because of this. She was confined for almost a week before finally regaining her strength and being able to eat again. It was an exhausting journey for both her fur parents and our vets and staff, but it was all worth it as she proved that recovery is still possible.

It may not be the same story for every patient, but we continue to hope and wish the best for all.
