“BAKIT NABAKUNAHAN NA, PERO NAGKAKA-VIRUS PA RIN?”

Furparents, did you know na ang bakuna ay hindi 100% guarantee na hindi na mahahawa ang pet mo?

Here’s why!

💉 1. Hindi pa kumpleto ang vaccines. Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccines to build strong immunity. One dose is not enough!
🦠 2. Na-expose sila sa virus bago pa nabuo ang immunity. It takes time for the body to develop protection after vaccination.
🐕 3. Hindi pa sapat ang immune response. Every pet is different. Some may not develop enough protection due to age, health conditions, or other factors.
⚠️ 4. Maaaring humina ang protection. Delayed boosters or incomplete vaccination can leave your pet vulnerable to infection.

WHY IS COMPLETE VACCINATION IMPORTANT FOR YOUR FURBABIES?

Dear Furparents! ❤️ Alam n’yo ba na hindi sapat ang isang vaccine lang para maprotektahan ang inyong dogs and cats against serious infectious diseases?

📌 WHY DO WE NEED TO RETURN EVERY 3 WEEKS?

Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccinations starting at around 6–8 weeks of age, with succeeding doses given every 2–4 weeks, depending on the veterinarian’s recommended protocol, until they reach at least 16 weeks old.

🩺 Why is this important?
✔️ Maternal antibodies from their mother can interfere with vaccines, making early doses less effective in some puppies and kittens.
✔️ Repeated vaccinations help ensure that at least one dose provides effective protection once maternal antibodies decrease.
✔️ Complete vaccination helps protect them against serious diseases such as Parvovirus, Distemper, and other vaccine-preventable infections.

💉 WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE INITIAL VACCINES?
Once your furbaby completes the initial vaccination series, your veterinarian will schedule the appropriate booster vaccinations. Annual vaccination may be recommended for certain vaccines, while others may require boosters at different intervals depending on the vaccine type, your pet’s age, lifestyle, and veterinary guidelines.

“Doc, bakit monthly ang deworming? Hindi ba puwedeng every 3 months lang?” 🤔

Good question, Furparents! ❤️ Let’s talk about the importance of regular deworming!

🇵🇭 Why is monthly deworming recommended?
Dahil sa tropical climate ng Pilipinas, favorable ang environment para sa iba't ibang parasites. Our pets can be exposed to intestinal parasites through contaminated soil, f***s, and their surroundings.

🐾 Regular parasite prevention is important, especially for pets who frequently go outdoors, interact with other animals, or live in areas with a high risk of parasite exposure.

⚠️ Important reminder, Furparents! Monthly parasite prevention may be recommended depending on your pet's risk, age, and the medication used. However, monthly deworming is not a universal requirement for every pet. The appropriate schedule should follow your veterinarian's advice and current parasite-control guidelines. Prevention is always better than cure! Huwag hintaying makakita ng bulate sa p**p ng inyong furbaby bago kumilos. Some pets can carry parasites even without obvious symptoms!

🐶 PARASITES ON THE TUMMY? DON’T IGNORE IT! 🪱

Our patient came to the clinic with parasites affecting the tummy/abdominal area. Parasites can cause itchiness, skin irritation, hair loss, redness, and discomfort. If left untreated, the condition may worsen and lead to secondary skin infections.

💡 Furparents, regular parasite prevention is important! Depending on the type of parasite, your veterinarian may recommend proper deworming, anti-parasitic treatment, and skin care. Huwag basta-basta gumamit ng gamot or home remedies without proper diagnosis. Different parasites require different treatments.

🐱🦠 EAR MITES SA PUSA: Maliit Pero Nakakaperwisyo!

Our feline patient was diagnosed with ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) tiny parasites that live inside the ear canal and can cause intense itching and irritation.

👂 Common signs include:
• Frequent scratching of the ears
• Head shaking
• Dark, coffee-ground-like ear discharge
• Redness, inflammation, or foul odor
• Hair loss and wounds around the ears

⚠️ Kapag napabayaan, maaaring magkaroon ng ear infection, severe inflammation, wounds, at discomfort. Ear mites can also spread easily to other cats and dogs in the household.

💡 Furparents, don’t self-medicate! Proper diagnosis is important because not all ear problems are caused by mites. A veterinarian can examine the ears and recommend the appropriate treatment and cleaning routine.

❤️ Healthy ears = happy furbabies! If your pet is constantly scratching or shaking their head, have their ears checked by your veterinarian.

Walang mas masakit para sa isang fur-parent kundi ang umuwing walang bitbit na alaga mula sa vet clinic. 💔

Sa gitna ng sobrang lungkot at gulat, napakahirap tanggapin ang nangyari. At minsan, ang sakit na nararamdaman natin ay nagiging galit na naibubuhos sa mga vet, nurse, at clinic staff.

"Pinalala niyo lang ang lagay niya!"
"Bakit nung dinala namin dito, namatay agad?"

Bago natin isisi sa clinic ang lahat, mahalagang maunawaan natin ang totoong nangyayari sa katawan ng ating mga alaga:

Magaling Magtago ng Sakit ang mga Hayop 🐾
Sa nature, survival instinct ng mga pusa at aso ang itago ang sakit para hindi sila magmukhang mahina. Kapag napansin mong ayaw na niyang kumain, ayaw gumalaw, o matamlay na matamlay na, ibig sabihin nito ay matagal na niyang tinitiis ang karamdaman.

May Limitasyon ang Medisina 🩺
Hindi miracle workers ang mga vet. Kapag dinala ang pet sa clinic na nasa critical stage na halimbawa ay severe dehydration, organ failure, o huling yugto na ng virus, sobrang liit na ng tsansa na ma-revive pa sila. Kahit ibigay pa ng vet ang pinak**alakas na gamot o CPR, pwedeng hindi na kayanin ng katawan ng alaga.

Ang Pagtanggap sa Masakit na Katotohanan 🕯️
Naiintindihan ng buong vet team na ang galit ay madalas nanggagaling sa labis na pagdadalamhati (grief). Pero ang pagpunta sa vet kapag huli na ang lahat at ang pagbibintang sa kanila pagkatapos ay hindi makakatulong sa sitwasyon.

Paano Natin Maiiwasan Ito bilang Fur-Parents?
Huwag mag antay"Wait and See": Kapag higit 24 hours nang hindi kumakain, paulit-ulit na nagsusuka, o nanghihina ang pet, dalhin agad sa clinic or hospital

Pansinin ang maliliit na pagbabago: Hindi kailangang mag-collapse ang alaga bago sabihing emergency. Ang simpleng pagtatago sa ilalim ng k**a o pagbawas ng ininom na tubig ay early sign na ng sakit.

Turingan ang Vet bilang Kakampi: Walang vet ang gustong mamatayan ng pasyente. Mas maaga mong maidala ang alaga mo, mas malaki ang pag-asa niyang gumaling. Gusto lang din natin silang makasama nang matagal. Tulungan natin ang ating mga vet na iligtas sila sa pamamagitan ng maagang pagpapagamot. Pinaalala lang natin ito para sa kaligtasan ng ating mga furbabies. Mag pa check up na habang maaga pa! 🐶🐱
