Spaying is important for cats because it provides several health, behavioral, and population-control benefits:

🩺 Prevents unwanted pregnancy — helps control the growing population of stray and unwanted kittens.
🎗️ Reduces the risk of mammary tumors — especially when performed before the first heat cycle.
🦠 Prevents pyometra — a potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus.
🐱 Stops heat cycles — reduces behaviors such as loud calling, restlessness, and attempts to escape.
🏠 Reduces roaming — cats may be less likely to wander in search of a mate.
❤️ Improves long-term welfare — fewer risks associated with pregnancy, birth, fighting, and roaming.

For pet owners: Spaying is not just about preventing kittens—it is an important part of responsible cat ownership and preventive healthcare. Spaying is a surgical procedure, so the cat should be assessed by a veterinarian first to make sure she is healthy enough for anesthesia and surgery.
