IT'S WORLD RABIES DAY!

The 28th of September is World Rabies Day, a global day of action, awareness for rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this neglected disease. Rabies is a fatal virus that spreads through bites and scratches and that is present in infected animals' saliva. All warm-blooded species, including wild animals like foxes, bats, and raccoons, as well as domestic animals like dogs, are vulnerable to rabies. It spreads from the initial bite or scratch and travels up nerves to the brain.

With this year’s World Rabies Day theme: “Rabies: Facts, not Fear”. It is an opportunity to reflect on how rabies impacts your community and other communities worldwide. And we, from the Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research - USM invites you to join us in commemorating World Rabies Day 2021.

Let us work together to support and educate one another to create a safer environment not just for people but also for our beloved animals.
