Every time we join veterinary volunteer work (Now with Dr Indi and Dr Andy), We’re reminded of one simple truth: spay and neuter saves lives.

In many communities, the number of stray dogs and cats continues to grow—not because people don’t care, but often because access to veterinary services and education is limited. A single unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce hundreds of puppies in just a few years. Multiply that across communities, and you begin to see how quickly overpopulation becomes overwhelming.

That’s why spay and neuter programs matter.

They don’t just prevent unwanted litters—they reduce suffering. Fewer animals are left to roam hungry, get hit by vehicles, or develop preventable diseases. It also helps reduce aggression and certain health risks like infections and cancers.

Volunteering in these programs goes beyond just performing procedures. It’s about:

* Building skills — from surgical techniques to patient handling and community interaction
* Creating change — one animal, one owner, one barangay at a time
* Making real impact — not just short-term help, but long-term solutions

Each surgery represents a future where fewer animals struggle to survive on the streets. Each conversation with a pet owner is a chance to shift mindsets and promote responsible pet ownership.

This is why we chose to volunteer.

Not just to practice what we’ve learned—but to be part of something bigger. Something that creates lasting change for animals who don’t have a voice.
