“If you’re working them right, you’re gonna tire them out alright.”
There’s a popular belief that you can’t tire out a working dog especially a Malinois.
You can.
A high-drive working dog may be willing to keep working even when it’s tired. Drive, motivation, arousal, and persistence can make a dog look like it has unlimited energy. But the goal isn’t to see how long you can keep a dog going.
The goal is to develop a dog that can work hard, think clearly, recover, and switch off when the job is done.
Good training isn’t about endlessly exhausting the dog.
It’s about quality work, appropriate challenge, and developing the ability to turn both the ON and OFF switches on command.
